•Jordans POV•

Moving forward, we had an easy path. Just a couple of turns and twists through the jagged corridor. The silence told us all we needed to know, but it felt different this time; it didn't seem to hurt as much.

The next obstacle didn't fill my stomach with as much dread as the previous. The walls elongated up and the floor was barely visible as the walls criss crossed it. Yep, we found a maze.

I didn't recognise this one though, the House of Pain was learning. It'd began to change and regenerate its self, like it was a living bacteria evolving its self against antibiotics. We were the vulnerable and weak immune system, trying to defend its self against the deadly threat.

"This can't be that bad, can it?" Alex's weary voice spoke from the back of the group.
"I hope not" I didn't know how to reassure them anymore, we'd already lost two of our friends, we didn't even know what day it was. We were hot, dirty and hungry. Without sleep or drink soon, we knew our fate.

That's when I heard it.

The voice; it was back. It promised me if we got through the maze alive there was food, water, clean clothes and a comfortable place to sleep. I tried to speak. Nothing. But it knew what I was going to ask, it swore that we'd get all of it. I was overwhelmed, what was happening to me? Was this really possible? Could we have five minutes to rest? I didn't know for sure, but I sure has hell was ready to find out.

That's when a wooden box, framed with frail leather caught my eye. I approached it, curious as to what lay inside.

Screeching, the box fully opened. I cousins believe my eyes, this isn't happening. No. I refuse. No.
