"I'm not pregnant Christina..." She says, more trying to convince herself than anyone else. As her voice trails off, she searches her mind, trying to solve the quadratic equation. And when she finds x, my heart drops. "No...no, I'm not. I can't be. I haven't even finished...Four isn't even..."
She starts taking deeper breaths and they increase in consistency. Her face flushes a rosy red with embarrassment, shame, excitement? Probably not the latter.
"Just follow me, we're not going to know for sure if you don't." I grab her hand when she makes no attempt to move in my direction.
Her eyes are replaced with a vacancy that scares me more than any fear. If she's really pregnant, I don't know what will happen to her. You never hear of pregnant girls in initiation. Yet at the same time, I'm angry. How could they be so stupid, so careless with their places?
We arrived at the meeting place, I knocked on the door three times, as agreed. I hadn't questioned the doctor, she knew best after all. The door opens and she hurries us instead.
"Tris Prior?" She states, analysing her. Tris slowly nods. "Just checking. Please understand what I'm doing for you could get me in a lot of trouble, but I know where you've been darling."
The doctor begins to mutter under her breath, I hear fragments of her sentences. "No time for the stick...ultrasound?"
