She doesn't see it, she just doesn't understand. Why is she so willing to rush everything?
"Christina, we just passed to ward... Christina!" She exclaims. As much as I want to turn around, I keep walking hoping she will follow.
Since we got to the Bureau, Uriah and Tris have taken numerous tests unaware of the consequences. There's no way I can take her to a normal doctor who knows who she is. No. I've arranged a meeting with a young doctor, nearly our age with no information about Divergents.
"Chris!" I turn around and she stands a couple feet away from ne with her arms crossed. "Where are we going?"
Why doesn't she see it?
"Tris, we can't go to the Open Ward."
"But why?!"
I turn and continue walking but I stop when I don't hear her footsteps behind me.
"I'm not going anywhere with you unless you stop keeping secrets!"
I roll my eyes. "I'm keeping secrets!? Tris, I'm trying to help you despite everything, why can't you see that?"
"What do you mean despite everything?"
I sigh. This is going absolutely nowhere and the appointment is in five minutes.
"Tris, everything will make sense in a bit. Just trust me." I say.
She takes a deep breath and starts walking again but in utter silence. For the first time, I can think straight.
If Tris Prior is sick, technology has advanced, I'm sure she'll be OK. But if she's pregnant, I don't know what will happen to her. Being Divergent inside is just as dangerous as being Divergent out here. We don't know what they want us for or if we can trust them.
We need to keep our heads down for now. I can't lose another friend.
"Do you think I'm sick?" Tris finally says.
I ponder over my answer. "That depends on how you define sick."
Tris grabs my arm and pulls me to face her. "Am I dying, Chris?"
"What? No!" Technically this isn't a lie because I'm almost 100% percent sure she isn't.
"Then why are you taking me where ever you're taking me?!"
I keep walking with my lips tightly presses together. We are so close now, so very close. The room is less than a five minutes away. If I can keep her walking, we can solve this. We can find out what's going on.
"Chris!"
For one second, I have no control over my own mouth. This is the fault in our Candor nature. "Because I think you're pregnant, Tris!"
And just like that, the cats out of the bag.
