The vomiting has subsided over the past few days and I've come to the conclusion that it was really nothing but a virus that's all gone.
"You should have seen a Doctor, Tris." Uriah says, relief filled in his eyes after I told him that I feel a lot better.
For some reason, I didn't want to see a nurse or a Doctor and I still don't know why. I guess I didn't want to hear something deadly that would number my days on this earth so I wouldn't feel immortal.
"But I did," I lie. "I didn't say anything because I didn't want to worry anyone."
"Well what did they say?" Says Christina, worry creeping into her voice instantly.
I try to think quickly but I say the first thing that comes to mind. "Only that vomiting can be caused by emotional stress and...fear sometimes."
What am I saying?
Uriah and Christina exchange glances and look back to me. Christina raises her eyebrow but eventually shrugs. I sigh in relief.
"What are you so scared of?"
We all turn to find Peter sitting on his bed in the corner. I roll my eyes and attempt to ignore him.
"Everyone's thinking it...Aren't you supposed to be Dauntless?"
"Shut up, Peter." Uriah says. "Didn't your fear landscapes last an hour?"
"Whatever." Peter takes one last look at us and walks away. I'm grateful.
I'm on my way to Tobias' place when Christina stops me dead in my tracks. "Tris!" She calls.
"I'm off to Four's place, Chris."
"I know!" She says. She takes a long pause and breathes in. "Don't go...at least...not until you know."
I raise my eyebrows. Christina has never looked so different. Her eyes are wide, pleading with me to listen to her and her brown skin glistens with sweat.
"Know what, Christina?" Now she is worrying me so I tuck my hands into my pockets to stop them from shaking or at least preventing Christina from seeing them.
She doesn't say anything but she pulls me into an unlocked storage cupboard.
"Know what!?" Millions of scenarios are running through my mind. Is Tobias cheating on me? Is he using me?
"Tris, you've been sick for no reason-"
I sigh. "Christina, I told you I went to the nurse. It's practically nothing."
Her worry shifts to anger in mere seconds. "No you didn't, Tris! Don't lie to me, your name wasn't on the recent visits list and who vomits because of stress!? You're not stressed, Tris. If anything you're happy."
Crap. I shouldn't have lied, I shouldn't have. "Christina, I-"
"Dammit Tris, what if you were really sick and you just refused to go? Are you really willing to risk everything?"
"I'm sorry, OK? Anyway, I feel much better. Look, thanks for the concern but I don't need your help."
She laughs but it isn't the kind of laugh you join in with.
"I'm not a baby you know!" I say.
"Yeah well, you might be having one soon!" She shouts, clearly annoyed with what I've done.
Wait. "What?"
She sighs and sits on a bucket with her head in her hands. "I explained your symptoms to the nurse and she really needs to see you."
"No. Why? What have you done?"
Christina rolls her eyes. "I was trying to figure out if my best friend was dying or something."
"What did she say?"
"Nothing really, but it was clear what she was thinking. I think we need to see her."
"...OK, fine. When?"
She bites her lip. "Now."
Can I say, I'm sorry the chapter's are really short but I don't have time to think of what else to put. I will update soon!! Comment feedback :-)
