After the dinner with my family, Giovanni and I had been getting along pretty well. Getting along for us meant minimal arguments and no death threats from me.
I had been staying at the hotel now for a week and I was more than ready to go home. But I knew that apartment could never be my home again. Not with the memories connected to it. I decided to start packing up the clothes and trinkets that I acquired over the week and tell Giovanni that I would be leaving, whether he liked it or not.
I grabbed my things and headed into the living room where Giovanni and Giorgio were speaking quietly in Italian.
"Where are you going?" Giovanni asked in the middle of his conversation
"I think its time that I go home."
"Home where?
"Well, for now I was thinking my brother's house until I figure out where to stay."
Giovanni looked towards his brother for help. It was the first time I had seen him consult his brother before acting out. I didn't know if this was a good thing or something I should be worried about.
"I think she should be fine." Giorgio vouched
Giovanni thought for a second before nodding his head.
"If you feel like you're ready to go, then I guess we can't hold you here any longer."
"What do you mean if I'm ready to go? I have been ready for the past week!"
The brothers looked at each other before Giorgio left the room.
"Where is he going?" I asked upset
"Why don't you sit down so we can talk, yes?" Gio asked me
I placed my bags on the floor and sighed while walking over to the couch.
"The reason we kept you here was to make sure you would stay silent about what you saw."
"Okay, I knew that already."
"Well, based on your attitude and cooperation, we believe that you will keep quiet. But we will be watching and we will not hesitate to come and get you."
"And what, bring me back here to watch me again?" I joked
"No, to kill you."
I gulped and let out a huge breath.
"Well..."
"This is serious and by bringing you here and telling you everything, you've become a liability. Now we are trusting that you value your life a lot more than seeking justice for Phil."
"Well, that's one thing you're correct on." I said quietly
"I don't want to threaten you, but we're taking a huge risk-"
"I understand. You don't have to worry about me."
"Good. I'll drop you off at your brother's house. I'll leave you to make whatever excuse necessary." He said walking towards the door
A small part of me was a little frightened by the conversation that just took place, but another part of me was confused.
I wasn't sure if I was still employed with the Amantés; I didn't even know if I wanted to continue working for them, knowing what I knew.

Staying with my brother wasn't too bad. I cooked every night, which made him very happy. He is used to eating out every night, so eating home cooked meals made him more than grateful. I stayed with him for about three weeks before I found a place close to his apartment.
