He Leaves

You know when he leaves
The boy who regularly makes your heart seize
Knees weak
And makes it hard to speak
You don't see his face in the halls
You see it in your mind that is beyond the high school walls
He's no longer working at your local fast food stop
He's no longer drinking and reeking of pot
His voice only echoes in your mind
Seems you're stuck in a hard bind
When he's no longer around
And nowhere to be found
You don't know where he went and frankly don't know why
You miss him badly and daily cry
You miss his presence and attention
You'd give him the world and all the affection
Something about him just pulled you in and never let go
No matter what now you know
It was his personality and sarcasm and having the humor that would make you laugh to tears
Now he's gone and you're facing your fears
Where did he go?
Why didn't he let you know?
Why isn't he coming back?
Why he'd leave you just like that?
On the verge of telling him how you feel
If he laughed in your face you know the hurt wouldn't heal
Just to hear his voice again you'd give it all
Just to have him catch you when you fall
You look at the sky
Beg to know why you couldn't catch his eye
At least not enough for him to want you
Now he's gone and it's miserable but true
You know the feelings weren't deserved
But they certainly weren't returned
Or he wouldn't have just up and left
You? He'll forget
