percy and annabeth revisit camp half blood, and to both of them it's like going home

"To be completely honest," Percy said, taking Annabeth's hand, "I never thought about doing this."
Annabeth smiled sadly, nostalgia building in her chest. "I didn't, either."
They were standing on the edge of the border to Camp Half Blood, about to step into what had been home for so many years. The two of them hadn't visited in a while- not since Percy's brother Tyson's birthday, actually. And it wasn't Tyson's most recent birthday. It was his birthday around three years ago.
"You ready?" Annabeth asked.
Percy nodded. "It's like going home."
The two smiled and stepped over the border, and Annabeth gasped.
The cabins shined brighter than she'd remembered, and the lake was a crisp blue color, calm and steady. Satyrs were running around the grounds, Camp Half Blood hats proudly on their heads, horns sticking out from holes specially made. Poseidon's, Zeus's, and Hades' cabins were all empty, just like Hera's. There weren't any kids of the Big Three besides Percy, Nico, and Thalia from Camp Half Blood, and they didn't visit much. Jason and Hazel sometimes came down but never stayed long, and so Camp kept their respective cabins closed off and clean.
"It's...wow." Percy said. He was surprised to see how happy everyone was, how calm and fearless. They were all content, and it was a nice reminder of what his time here had been. Annabeth laughed, running for the Big House, which had been repainted mahogany red with white trim. Percy followed.
Mr. D was still on probation from Olympus and he sat, grumpy as ever, at the table on the porch. He played pinochle with an invisible opponent, and grumbled under his breath when he realized he'd been given a bad hand.
"Peter?" He huffed. Percy rolled his eyes.
"It's Percy."
"That's what I said," the wine god barked. "And Annabelle?"
"Annabeth." The blonde corrected.
"Same thing." He said. "What're you two doing back?"
Percy shrugged nonchalantly. "Came for a visit."
"Well, nice to see you, but it's not. Get out."
Annabeth snorted. "Who said we're visiting you?"
Dionysus' face grew beet red. Before he could reply, Percy and Annabeth left for the front doors.
The Big House hadn't changed much since they last saw it. They'd received a new chair which was probably due to Chiron, who was really the person they wanted to see. Percy especially.
They found the centaur in the sick room, where he was stocking shelves with Argus, who winked at Percy and Annabeth when they arrived. But when he winked, all of his eyes winked, which made Percy wonder whether or not all eyes closed when he slept, or if only two did, and ninety eight stared at the ceiling.
He shook the thought away.
"Argus? What was with the wink?" Chiron asked. He turned his head, and when he saw the two of them he laughed. "Aha. My favorite pupils."
Annabeth laughed and hugged him, and Percy shook his hand. "Good to see you, Chiron."
"You as well. My, you've grown, Percy."
"Don't worry," Annabeth said. "His maturity hasn't."
Percy scoffed. "You love it."
Chiron laughed and Argus smiled. Chiron tilted his head. "Don't get me wrong, it's splendid to see you both, but is there something wrong? I'm confused as to why you're here."
Percy answered. "It's like going home. We missed you guys."
"We've missed you too," Chiron smiled. "And enough with the sappiness. Wanna see the armory?"
Percy laughed at Chiron's quick change of subject but nodded to Annabeth, who was giddy as all Hades. "Of course!"
As they followed the centaur out, Percy couldn't contain his smile. It really was like going home.
