It was a slave who went by the name of Oscar.  He was the first made a dollhouse for his master's daughter.  He wanted to give her this wonderful beautiful dollhouse as a gift for her birthday. Oscar worked very hard to get every detail right.  The tables look like real tables and chairs. They were just tiny.  The dollhouse had six bedrooms and a slave quarter.  Where the slaves would rest and sleep, just like the real one he was now living in.

He made all types of furniture for each and every room of the dollhouse.   Then he made the Dolls out of old clothes and wood.  Their bodies were completely made of carved wood.  He made a doll for each member of that family.

Mr. and Mrs. Robinson, who was an English couple who had just moved to this little village in Naples.  They had four children, one girl that went by the name of Lora and three boys,  Mike, Marcus, and Mickey.   Lora was the middle child, but the only girl.   Oscar figured he'll do something nice for Lora's Tenth birthday.  It was a surprise he thought.  He was so happy as he was putting the finishing touches, on the wonderful four feet high doll house he's created.

One special thing he added to the dollhouse, where the slaves.  He carved a doll in his and his wife image, although his wife was no longer around.  He was so proud of what he had done.  He was hoping that Mr.Robinson, being a Business Man and all, maybe consider helping him make a Doll House business.

Oscar knew he was a slave and that his master will take all credit, but he wanted to do this anyway, hoping that his master might just be kind enough to pay him and make him a free man.   It was 1934, and if you were a free black man, you were a rich man.

Oscar put the finishing touches on his wonderful mini-mansion.   Then he went back to work, feeding the farm animals.   Now Mr. Robinson brother lived next door, about one mile up the road.  In those days, that was next door.

The other, Mr.Robinson-Cross  was a much richer man.  The farm had better soil and he owned a dairy mill.   They also had children, a boy named Rick and a girl names  Abeley.    These children were nothing like Lora and her brothers.  They were very spoiled and anything they wanted, they felt they deserve.

Now while Oscar finished feeding the animals, he noticed the two brats walking into the stables.  He really didn't think anything of it, so he kept doing his work.  Then as he glanced at the stables again,  Abeley and Rick were carrying the Doll House out of the stables.  When Oscar saw them stealing the Doll House he quickly ran towards them.

He screamed and stand right in their way.  Rick quickly told him to move.   "If you don't move out of the way, I'll make sure he'll be sorry." said the spoiled boy   Oscar didn't care he grabbed the Doll House right out of their hands.  Then he told them, "You know it's wrong to steal.   The young boy insisted that it belong to them.  "That belongs to us, our father made it for my sister." said Rick  "We will come back with our father and take the Doll House," said Abeley  Oscar just smiled, "Go do whatever makes you happy.  I really don't have anything to worry about, I'll build this, and it doesn't belong to you." he replied as he went back to work, ignoring the two brats.  "We'll be back and you'll be sorry." said the children as they went to tell on Oscar  Then the two children ran back to their home and Oscar continued working.

Abeley was very upset, she wanted that Doll House and she was determined to have it.  Rick really didn't care, but to please his sister, he agreed with everything his sister said.  Abeley came up with a wicked idea.  She explained all to her brother making him promised to go along with her lie.  She was going to rip her dress and say that Oscar tried to hurt her in a sexual way.

At first, Rick thought, it wasn't a good idea.  He likes Oscar and didn't want him in that kind of trouble.  But Abeley was the boss, and what she said goes.   She convinced her brother and he helped her tear her dress and put mud on her clothes.   She then hit herself with a rock on her knee, to make the lie look a little more convincing, she needed to have a little blood.
