HER FIRST LOVE: (CHAPTER ONE)

Christine was a simple girl. her looks were as simple as she was. She had long, dark, wavy hair, with a slight tan and small build. Her father had taught her to always say yes ma'am and yes sir. Altogether she led a simple life until one day it all changed.

Christine loved to read books, especially love stories. Every day she would go to the bookstore and pick out a book and take it home, read it and dream of one day falling in love. Now falling in love was just not a typical love affair for Christine. It had to be the type of love that her mother and father had once shared with each other.

Christine was an only child, for you see her mother and twin brother had both died during childbirth, so that left Christine's father to raise Christine alone the best way that he could. Her father would tell Christine all about the stories of how the two would meet in secret and tell her of the romance that followed them everywhere they went. He would tell her all about the roses he would give her, the long walks they would take, and let us not forget the long drives up the coast. Such love, they had for each other. This was the type of love that Christine went looking for but had yet to find in her many books.

It was another day just like any other day, except for the pounding rain outside. As Christine grabbed her umbrella from its stand beside the wood door, she cursed the rain. She ran to the carport where her bike was standing next to her father's work table. Her father worked as a mechanic down at the towns only garage.

Christine hated days that rained, especially days that she had to ride her bike everywhere that she went. Still cursing the rain under her breath, she headed for the bookstore. By the time that Christine arrived at the bookstore, the rain had stopped and the sun once again peeked through the clouds.

As Christine opened the door of the bookstore, she noticed a man that she had never seen before, certainly not in the bookstore. Trying not to stare at the young man, she slowly walked to where they had the romance books that she liked. She looked for the right book that she was sure would change the mood that she was in. Christine couldn't wait to get home and warm up with the last book of the series she had been reading all week. As she reached for the book, another hand reached for it at the same time, and as she looked around she saw the bluest eyes she had ever seen in her life staring back at her.

Christine had never seen eyes so blue before., they reminded her of the blueness of the ocean and the blueness of the eyes of the Alaskan husky she once had. After staring what seemed like a million moments in time into those blue eyes that stared back at her, she suddenly heard her self-say, excuse me, but that is my book.

Suddenly those blue eyes blinked, making Christine jump, with a gasp Christine said'' OH MY'', She dropped the book that she had somehow managed to get her hands on and turned to leave. She wanted to run, to hide somewhere, anywhere but here at this very moment when she heard someone say,'' o miss, I think you dropped your book.''

Hearing the young man calling to her, Christine stopped dead in her tracks, swung around so fast that she slipped on the newly polished bookstore floor and landed right on her butt, with an OUCH!, Christine began to cry. Now you have gone and done it, Christine, she said under her breath. Now everyone is going to stop, stare and laugh at me. What a day this is turning out to be.

Sitting on the bookstore floor crying, Christine failed to hear the young man approaching her. Reaching down to help her up, he asked her if she was alright? Feeling embarrassed, Christine snapped at the young man'', Why of course I am ok, why wouldn't I be?, Just a little slip of the foot is all.''

Christine did not intend to snap at the young man, it just sorta slipped out.Who was she kidding, she was embarrassed. Quickly she apologized to the young man. I am so sorry, she said. How can I make it up to you? It was at that moment when Christine noticed the eyes, his eyes, his ocean blue eyes.Hi, she heard him say, but for the first time in her 22 years, Christine was speechless. Christine thought that her eyes were going to pop out of her head. Hi, she said. my name is Christine, and pray tell what is your name? Why howdy ma'am my name is Christopher, Christopher B. Rodchester at your service.
