When I had reached my cabin, I had tried to return to my slumbers; but it refused to allow me to fulfill that desire. I laid on the hard table, staring at the ceiling; while I pictured the girl once more. Her scent floated around and I could pick out the district smell of honeysuckle.

I thought the scent was just a memory, but then it grew. I sat up, entranced by the smell. I left my cabin and followed the aroma until I found her. She didn't see ,e yet for a couple reasons. One, I was still a good distance and my vampire eyes were more attune to seeing at a far. Second, she was wiping the tears from her beautiful eyes.

I moved closer, fighting the urge to flash out and drink her dry. I stood behind a tree as she glanced around warily; then I was in her head. 'Who could it be' popped through my mind, making me smile. I stepped closer, while circling her quickly; so I could come up behind her.

I stopped a foot behind her and I heard her take in a deep breath. She turned around and stared at me. I stood there for a moment, staring into her eyes; then I dashed off, not saying a single word.

I halted about fifty feet from her and watched her as she just stood there for several minutes; then with a last glance around, she left. I waited for a few minutes, hoping she might come back.

When I finally accepted the fact that she wasn't returning, I followed her scent trail. I stayed far enough back that she couldn't see me, but I could easily keep tabs on her. She left the park and went pass the cafe before turning into the alley. I closed the gap, but I made sure that she wouldn't notice me.

She stepped out of the alley and started glancing around; so I ducked into a dark doorway. When she was done peering around, she crossed the street with me hot on her trail. She stopped in front of an apartment building; then she glanced at the door as if deciding if she truly wanted to go in.

I continued to watch her as I leaned against a tree that was ten feet away. I noticed her walk over to the drain pipe and pull herself up a couple feet, while placing her feet in the holes in the crumbling wall. She scaled up pretty easily with only a few stumbles, reaching the second story window and climbing inside.

I waited a few moments before heading back to the park. Maybe now that she was home, I could sleep again. I also hopped that I would dream of her green eyes again, while ignoring my monster self.
