alone together - fall out boy

she sat in the dirt on the edge of the almost abandoned road, sticking her thumb out attempting to hitch a ride but failing every time a car passed.

except when the black 2008 toyota jeep pulled up next to her. a girl about her age stuck her head out the window, smirking "looks like you need a ride," she pushed down her round sunglasses, getting a better look at her.

she nods her head yes and grabs her torn backpack, sticking her head into the window of the jeep "i don't know where you're going," she starts "but do you got room for one more troubled soul?"

the girl in the divers seat motions for her to get in and chuckles softly "got plenty of room," she uses hand gestures to show the empty back seats and start the car back up.

the girl on the side of the road gets reluctantly into the car, thanking the other girl softly.

after driving for a moment the girl in the divers seat says "oh and i don't know where i'm going but i don't think i'm coming home."

the girl in the passenger seat next to her takes her lip in between her teeth before saying "i'm sara... and you sound like a runaway."

the driver glances at sara "i could say the same to you miss sara, and no i'm not a runaway. just a girl trying to find herself."

"find yourself in the dessert?" sara asks "i'm sorry to say this pal but you're not finding jack out there," she hitches a thumb back, to the dessert.

"amber, its amber," the diver says "and welcome to the road of ruin troubled soul!"

"where does it start?" sara asks.

"at the end," amber shoots her a playful wink.

"so it's just us? alone together?" sara brushes a blond strand of hair away for her face.

"we could stay young forever," she pushes up her sunglasses and smiles over at sara "c'mon loosen up. scream it from the top of your lungs!"

"you're really weird," but sara can't help but to giggle a bit.

"but you cut me off, i lost my tack," amber sighs. she had a direct plan not to stop for hitch hikers but something about the lost girl on the road spoke to her.

"it's not my fault, i'm a maniac," sara giggles yet again, sheepishly.

amber groans "it's not funny anymore, it's not," she rolls her eyes.

"what peed in your corn flakes?" sara asks, wondering what was up with the change of mood.

"you see sara, my heart is like a stallion." amber starts off with a sigh "they love it more when it's broken.."

sara started to get it, she's trying to find herself because she got her heart broken. she frowns and says barely above a whisper "do you wanna feel beautiful?"

amber glances at her as her response and sara continues "cause i'm outside your door, invite me in."

the girl in the drivers seat shakes her head no "i don't wanna go back and play pretend," she states referring to her last broken heart.

sara just sighs and says "i'm on deck, i'm up next."

amber chuckles "you seem as high as a private jet.."

but sara just shakes her head and sighs softly "don't you see? i don't know where you're going but i'm trusting you. you should trust me too because in the next town, i'll split but you obviously need to get something off your chest, tell a troubled soul."

amber sighs and nods "well like i said, i don't think i'm coming home.." she starts off.

this was going somewhere, sara just knew it.
