DAWN

"Ugh!" I opened my eyes and saw myself surrounded by thick purple smoke .

I heard shuffling around me. Apparently my Malamite senses are getting stronger.

She's awake!

The smoke dissipated suddenly which made it clearer to look at.

I found my hands tied behind my chair. I tried to struggle myself free but the rope tied my hands even tighter.

"Now, my dear. That rope there are anti magic." A man with brown hair and grey eyes said. He looked like Joshua but Joshua looked better. " By the way, I'm Faurus. Joshua's father."

Faurus... Such a familiar name.

"Isn't Faurus.. The king of Chide?" I asked.

"Surprise! I am the king! And Joshua is the Prince! So we are The Royals of Chide. I am expecting some respect, Miss Dawn?"

I snorted. "You don't deserve respect for kidnapping me."

"Ooh, feisty. But what can we do? You were so naive to believe my son's natural ability to dazzle girls. I can't believe you just fell for him like that. And my son said you were tough. I guess he was wrong." Faurus moved his head in front of me and gave me a mocking smile.

The door opened and Joshua walked in. I gave him a glare as he walked past me and handed something to Faurus.

I'm sorry, Dawn. My king needs me. As the Prince of the city I cannot betray the king. A voice spoke in my head.

I saw Joshua eyeing me and I found him speaking to me in my head.

Joshua leaned against the wall and observed my actions.

I can never trust anyone ever again.

"Well, Dawn,darling." Faurus said.

"Do not call me that." I grumbled.

"Okay, then. Dawn. I am going to ask you a few questions. You may not ask questions during the trial otherwise you would be punished. "

Trial?

"What do you mean by trial? I did not do anything wrong and I-" before I managed to finish my sentence Faurus opened his whip and whipped me. I saw Joshua wince.

I gritted my teeth in pain. My leg was bleeding.

"You were right. She is tough. Good choice of a girlfriend, my son." Faurus smirked at him and looked back to me.

"I told you no questions." Faurus glared at me and moved on to his questions. "When have you joined The Malamites? "

"Two days ago. "

"Very well. What are your abilities? "

"Ice." I decided to lie.

"Don't lie, Miss Dawn." Faurus seethed.

"Fine, it's psychic." I rolled my eyes.

"Where were you born? "

"I am not sure but the orphanage I used to stay in was in Carinthia, Austria."

"Austria, full of music... Well, who are your parents?"

"I have none." I said truthfully.

"You at least should know their names! Who named you then?" Faurus looked at me aghast.

"I was found in a basket of a swan so the head of the orphanage named me Swan and I insisted my name being Katherina because the old lady who dropped me at the orphanage called me that. But a few years after I ran to Germany I called myself Dawn. Katherina eventually became my middle name."
