Words Just Hurt

Words just hurt.

You tell me to talk
Say something!
I can see your frustration,
You think it's easy,
But the words are stuck
Somewhere I can't reach.

I'm screaming inside, I want to
Say something!
But my throat is blocked
And the words won’t come out

I watch them for a moment
Mesmerized by the look in their eyes
I want to understand it,
To have it
That connection.

Socially awkward, they call me
Stuck in my shell
Maybe I should break out and,
Say something
But, I love the loneliness of the shell

I sit, hidden in the shadow.
Craving to make that connection
To say something to someone...and feel.
And yet, I love the shadows.

All my past relationships have been disastrous
They think I want too much
More than I’m willing to give.
So they complain, pressure me to Say something
But my reactions are my words.

Communication breakdown
I want to make that connection
Instant.
With someone who understands more
More than my words, where I don’t have
To say something
Because he comprehends my silence.
