I felt like I had been in that tank forever, my thoughts were screaming at me to escape, but there was no way out. I floated endlessly. Listening. Waiting. But no one came. I was starving, my stomach was rumbling painfully.
'Why aren't they here yet!?' I thought to myself. My heart was thudding in my chest, I couldn't pass out or sleep. The tank made a noise over top of me, I tried looking up by it didn't do much. I was yanked out of the water and held in someone's arms, my helmet was ripped off. I gulped in fresh air and went limp, my limbs didn't work, nothing worked. I couldn't hear very well either.
"Y/N!? Come on get up!" A familiar voice roused me from my spell. I opened my eyes weakly, John sat over me, he flashed a light I my eyes.
"She was drugged, overdosed way too many times.." John reported, Lestrade came next, he yelled a few words that my ringing ears didn't pick up. I was lifted off the ground. I glanced up, Sherlock's face came into view, his eyes were burning with hatred, obviously not towards me, but it was terrifying to look at. I sucked in a breath of air and began coughing.
"Y/N. Y/N please lay down you're going into shock!" John ordered and held my shoulders down. I shivered and listened to his voice.
"Okay, just breathe, I know it's hard but you have to try.." John said softly and began checking for other injuries. Sherlock wrapped his trench coat around me and lifted me off the cold ground. He held me close and walked down the steps. Charles was laying face down on the floor, Anderson was just putting the handcuffs on.
"It's okay.. You're safe.." Sherlock whispered. "They'll never hurt you again.." He hugged me close to him, his body heat radiated onto me, which eased the shaking. He walked silently, carrying me, my head was pushed into his chest. John followed us quickly, he was explaining medical things to Sherlock, who didn't seem to be listening. Lestrade just walked in silence, the silence was tense and dark. They opened a set of doors, wind blew over me, I opened my eyes and saw the outside, for the first real time in 2 years I saw the outdoors. Stars shone down on me, and the moon rested high above us, it was plump and full. There were no houses around for miles it seemed. I looked up at Sherlock, his eyes were blazing with a dark emotion that I could not describe.
"Sh-Sherlock.." I croaked, my voice hurt. He looked down at me for a moment.
"Sh... Just rest, you're safe now.." Sherlock whispered as we reached an ambulance, I was placed into a bed. They placed an IV tube into my arm and started crying out inaudible commands. Sherlock held my hand and watched, his eyes were cold and dark. I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, my skin was pale, and my eyes had dark circles underneath them. I yawned and closed my eyes, I was to tired to worry about my sickly appearance. Sherlock squeezed my hand and stayed by my side, it took a while to get back to the hospital, I slept most of the ride whole Sherlock watched over me. He ignored the nurses orders for him to leave me as they pushed my bed into the hospital. He was eventually grabbed by security and taken to the lobby.. All was silent. I heard doctors yelling, but I couldn't make out what they were saying, my consciousness flickered on and off like a light that was dying out.. A light that was dying out.. That's what I am isn't it? I'm dying aren't I? I was unconscious again. All I could hear was my heart drumming on my chest, begging me to spring to life or fall into the jaws of death, yet I float in between. Sherlock would miss me.. I remained in between.
