The Sound of Silence
It's quiet, too quiet, so quiet I hear my own heart.
The silence, overwhelming, it tears my sanity apart.
The sound of my breathing, loud and harsh to my ears.
The sonorous pitter patter, the drop of my tears.
I whisper, too loud now, it echoes throughout
The empty hallways that I'll never depart.
I shiver, I call out, a cry of despair.
It is hopeless, alone now, I talk to the air.
The silence, it calls now, it speaks truth to me.
Rendering me speechless, I will never be free.
The voices I now hear, it's all in my head.
They speak now and I listen and I understand.
The sound of the silence is the sound of my soul.
Lonely, empty, no longer a whole.
