Author's Note:

Trigger Warning: might have notes of depression and suicide. Also I apologise for the long absence, I was trying to find myself.

Unread Letters

If I could lend you words to speak

So I would know what it is you needed to say

If I could summarize the troubled thoughts

That you try to keep inside the vaults of your mind

If we took less time for work

And made more time to spend with one another

If we actually spent time on things and events

And people that mattered to us

If I could only see through the mask you wear

And read between the lines of the words you say

And notice the troubled gestures you hide from me

If persistent practices made us better humans

And less like an uncaring and heartless being

Maybe I could have seen more sunrises

And less rain spattered floors

Maybe I would have been happier

And less run down from life

Maybe I'd have noticed

What was going on

Maybe I would have heard

The words that were left unsaid

Maybe I would have see

The things that were left undone

And maybe then I'd have had better sleep

And less nights tossing and turning in a sweat-drenched bed

Maybe I'd have been here

To understand what you went through

And maybe I'd have been there

To stop you.

To tell you that you mattered.
