Chapter 3

“I cannot wait till our golden boy is here!” Tyra swooned, dancing around the office. While I sat at my desk, my head in my hand, she fluttered around dusting every little thing she could find. It was kind of annoying; I couldn’t understand how she got so excited over one man.

“Oh calm down, you act like he’s coming over here to give you the D,” I sighed, focusing my attention out of the window. Cars passed by the building, turning every which way and stopping at the light.

“Maybe he is,” Tyra joked, flashing a look at me. I shook my head as Elisa entered the room.

“Well, he’ll be here in fifteen, I just got off the phone with his agent,” Elisa announced, checking her watch. “If he does this right he’ll be on time for his appointment at ten.”

“Tell Tyra to sit down, he’s not that important,” I suggested. Tyra and I shared an office, which I didn’t really mind. Elisa took a seat at the corner of my desk.

“Why chica he is! Sean Ballard will be the new face of Modelogic Richmond!” Elisa exclaimed, clutching her chest in excitement. I nodded towards a poster of Sean that Tyra had up. He was standing in front of a white wall, shirtless. Admittedly, he did have nice tattoos, but that was about all the compliments he was going to get from me.

“Or maybe he’ll be the new face of Tyra’s wall?” I questioned, causing Tyra to glare at me. She landed with a thud in her chair, still clutching her duster.

“I think in person he’ll have a different affect on you,” Elisa laughed, taking the compact mirror from atop my desk and checking her lipstick. I leaned back into my chair, crossing my arms.

“Don’t you guys think that maybe you’re taking this a little too serious?” I asked, raising an eyebrow at them. Elisa rolled her eyes and returned the compact mirror to my desk. The amount of preparation these two were taking was staggering; this guy wasn’t even that cute. “He’s not even that cute.”

“Don’t be mad because you’re still single honey,” Tyra commented. I bit my lip, nobody at Modelogic knew about Kendra. Everyone at the office thought I was single, so they always tried to hook me up. I remembered the last time one of our models had a photo shoot in New York City. Elisa and Tyra had tried so hard at the launch party to hook me up, let it be guy or girl.

“I’m not mad,” I mumbled, contemplating on whether to tell them the truth. These were the people I was closest with, other than Kim. I opened my mouth to speak, but decided against it. It wasn’t the right time, especially since I hadn’t confronted Kendra about it. Mentally, I was kicking myself, knowing I should’ve said something by now. But, she was being typically moody controlling Kendra. I sighed.

“Cheer up; this is new territory for us!” Elisa smiled, tapping my arm. I tried my best to manage a smile, but it faded as quickly as it came.

“Yeah, new territory for me. Time to get me a white boy,” Tyra said, nonchalantly as she flipped through a magazine. Elisa scoffed.

“Don’t I tell you guys not to mix business with pleasure?” Elisa asked, looking at the two of us. “That’s dangerous territory Tyra. Scandals galore.” Tyra shook her head.

“The media can kiss my ass,” she rebutted, rising up her ass for emphasis. I shook my head and chuckled.

“So wait, you said not to mix business with pleasure right? Well what were you doing when you tried to hook me up with countless numbers of people?” I questioned, narrowing my eyes at Elisa. She gazed at me and chuckled.
