Chapter 7

Ever since Sean had stormed away from me, we hadn’t talked. Allison had flown in also and Sean ignored me entirely. It had been two days and here I was, sitting at a party we’d both been invited to, alone. I sighed to myself and covered my face with my hands. I could’ve lied blamed this on someone else, but yet again I had done this to myself.

Truth be told, I didn’t even want to speak with Kendra. I reasoned myself to the point that the only thing I was doing was humoring her. That of course coincided with the fact that my heart still wanted her in my life. You can’t just let go of someone you’ve been with for that long, it’s just inhuman.

Everybody had shown up with dates or with friends and here I was, sitting alone, twiddling my thumbs, Sean hadn’t even glanced at me to see if I was here. Thinking about it, it made me sigh. Maybe I did hurt Sean. Lenin walked up to my side, squatting down to my level.

“Where’s your wingman?” he asked, probably pondering why I was sitting alone. I deserved to be alone.

“Over there with his agent,” I answered, pointing towards Sean sitting down at a table. He looked nice in his black tuxedo and had all the ladies staring at him. Lenin looked at me puzzled.

“Why are you not with him?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. “Bad break-up?” Lenin chuckled, causing me to laugh.

“Kind of had a little spat,” I shrugged. He shook his head.

“That’s a shame.” Lenin stood up and walked away, making me sigh. I watched him walk to the front of the room and grab the mic, starting the presentation. The images that flashed on screen were pictures of Sean and I, pictures of other models, and the two females. I had to admit, Sean and I did take great pictures and I had noticed him tense up when they flashed across the screen.

“Excuse me; can I get more wine please?” I asked, stopping the waiter. Tonight was going to be my night to drink, even if it was wine. She nodded quickly and hurried off towards the kitchen. I downed the rest of my glass and looked around, realizing I was the only one sitting alone. The short, white dress I had word had been for nothing. The heels were hurting my feet and I was still wallowing in my own self pity.

“Here you go ma’am,” the waitress interrupted my thoughts, placing a whole bottle on the table. I pulled money out of my purse, handing it to her. She rejected it. “No, no need. It’s compliments of Lenin.” The waitress smiled and walked away. I turned to look at Lenin, who winked when we made eye contact. I guess he knew what was up.

“I love my models and they did a wonderful job,” Lenin congratulated. “I was even able to bring in some fresh talent!” Lenin’s eyes traveled towards me and he smiled, making the rest of the room’s heads travel. I knew I looked lonely as hell, sitting by myself with a big bottle of wine and a half finished glass. When everyone else looked away, I downed the whole glass. My whole focus was getting toasted. It was times like these that I wished I smoked and not Kendra. My brain then refocused itself, I wanted to smoke something, get high it didn’t matter. I remembered seeing a man with a cigar, so when the waitress came around again I stopped her.

“Do you have cigars?” I asked, looking up at her. It was hard to see her eyes, since the lights were off due to the presentation.
