 Chapter One.

"You'll be better off at Gram's Star" My mother's voice echoed in my head. I sat up and looked around in a daze. Of course,

Im in a airplane. "We will be landing shortly, welcome to Oregon people" the tired voice of the pilot rang out over the intercom.

My name is Star. It doesnt really matter what my last name is. I'm being exiled to Oregon to live with my grandma who I

never really saw most of my life. Its better this way though, I couldnt stand Chicago anymore. Oh and its better for my mom, she didnt want to

deal with a depressed teenage daughter.

After landing I grabbed the one suitcase I had with me, everything else had been sent over already here. Looking around

the small terminal I finally spotted her. My gram from my dads side, she stood waiting near a coffee shop. Her grey eyes

grew bright when she saw me. "Star! oh my dear I havent seen you in so long" she practically yelled and squeezed me tight,

I smelled her fimilar rose scent. I forced a small smile and nodded. She still looked the same, funny she didn't look like she aged a day.

Her blonde hair was slightly greying and a few wrinkles here and there but she still looked beautiful. Her clear grey eyes scanned me over as if she wanted to say something more but

she grabbed my suitcase and lead me out the airport.

We got into her Chevy and I looked out the window. Rain was already starting to fall from the grey sky. I didnt mind though,

It fit my mood. "Dear, your mom told me about you not speaking, I told her you would once your damn well ready to. Well until then

maybe you can wright on a erase board or note pad to me? So I know at least some stuff. You know?" She looked over to me drumming

her fingers on the wheel. Nodding I was glad she understood. I was always a silent person but never like this. My mom thought it

was a joke or a phase when I wouldnt respond to her. Its been months and Its not like I havent tried. I just cant. Every time

I think back to last winter, I just cant. I blinked back tears and looked out the window. I hoped she hadnt seen that. The streets were pretty vacant seeing as it was raining, and

like 5am.

"We're here dear, you might want to put that hood of yours on. Unless you want to get wet" She reached to the back of the car

and pulled out the most typically old lady hat and put it on her graying blonde head. I opened the door and got out, looking

at the house before me. It was a pretty big victorian house, I hadnt been here since I was little but I could tell that

it was recently painted. I remember wishing I lived here. Funny how things turn out. I grabbed my suitcase from the car and followed Gram inside.

The inside hadnt changed much, just more family photos lined the walls. I dropped my suitcase and looked at her with a confused

expression, I didnt know which room I would be staying in. Gram threw her coat on the couch and smiled " I thought a girl your

age would like some privacy so I set you up on the top floor. Your own bathroom and all dear. Go on and check it out, this old

lady needs a nap." she smiled and laid down on the couch.

Looking up at the stairs I bit my lip. Fuck. This is going to suck lugging up this suitcase all the way. Finally getting upstairs I opened the first
