Prologue
The woman's hands went around her enlarged stomach. Her breath becoming more laboured as her beloved husband accelerated the car.
'Almost there.' His voice was strained with panic as rain pelted heavily upon their car, blurring the orange holiday lights.
Her hand grasped the door handle as he took a sharp turn almost skidding on the wet tar. She would have screamed profanities if she weren't too busy breathing through the pain. The time interval of each cramp getting shorter as the car pulled short.
Her husband, a handsome man by anyone's standards with his soft brown hair and striking grey eyes, pecked her quickly before giving her a reassuring smile as he opened and closed the door. Leaving only a gust of cold wind that invaded their car.
He hadn't wanted to leave his wife, but this was one stop they could not prolong. He looked over his shoulder saddened that he could not catch a glimpse of her fiery smile reassuring him.
His pace quickened as he ran up the steps to a classic white mansion. A few kids running down, trying to run in the rain while keeping their stash of candy air tight. A boy dressed as the grim reaper knocked him down a few stairs. He looked to see if the boy was hurt but he had already left. A small smile came to the mans face as he thought of the son he would soon have.
He reached the front door.
His hand barely touched the intercom before a bright faced teen opened the door. Her hair golden blonde that hung just passed her chin. She had a friendly smile as she raised one perfectly shaped eyebrow, 'trick or treat?'
"Treat." For some odd reason he felt giddy. It had been a few days since he did anything like this. This only made his day better as she handed him a packet of pre-packed sweets. "Aren't you too old for this?" her laugh barely carried in the rain.
He gave her one of his more generous smiles as he took the parcel. She barely caught the glint in his eyes as he wished her a happy Halloween before shooting her dead in the forehead.
She fell limp among the cut out pumpkins and cobwebs. Her face lit by the slightest glow of the dimmed porch light.
Marcus barely spared her a glance before rushing back to the car where his wife continued the breathing exercises as she cursed the child for its impatience.
He threw his silencer in the back seat and he barely closed the car door before they were in front of the Rosewood Hospital.
They were received promptly and sent to the operating room. The wife never letting go of the husbands hands as she sent glares to everyone in the room.
The operating doctor came dressed in scrubs. A few minutes later she had broken two of Marcus' fingers before the baby was born, if only it had been as easy as getting shot. Her vision was blurry and her body fatigued but in between her shallow breaths she noticed the doctor handing over the baby to Marcus. Her last thought was whether he had shot the right twin or not.
Marcus looked down on his dear Isabella before looking at the child in his hands. It wasn't there for a second before he shoved it at the nearest person. Doctor Gregory barely had time to adjust the baby before Mr. Silverthorne fainted in a very unmanly way...
The next day the Silverthorne's were congratulated on the acquisition of their new born girl.
"Isa~bell~a," Marcus serenaded, "what would you like to name our baby boy?"
'Jonathan.' She barely whispered it as she skimmed over the front page of the newspaper. She looked up into his grey eyes which held so much love for her. 'You bloody fool, you shot the wrong sister.'
He visibly paled, 'but their twins, killing anyone of them should do!'
"Not when you shot the one that hired us!"
'Oh that's why she looked so familiar.'
She was gobsmacked, they never met the twin that hired them but of course the girl was familiar, you had to have seen the picture of the target before killing it. This is why they always worked as a team he had the memory of a gold fish. At least he looked like Hollywood material but no one would believe her if she told them he had a higher IQ then her.
Just then Dr. Gregory came in.
"So have you decided on a name for her?"
'For who?', 'Jonathan.'
The doctor looked at the new parents in awe, should he correct them or were they pulling his leg?
He gave an awkward laugh before starting with,"It's a female".
'Of course you don't have to repeat yourself, we already know that it's a boy.'
And Of Course That Is How She Was Born...
