I was filled with so much rage, I just couldn't believe that my father decided on something so important on his own without even asking me.
"You're joking, right dad? Please tell me this is all a joke."
"Sweety calm down-"
I got up from my chair, not caring if I was making a scene, this was absolutely ridiculous.
"Calm down?! How the hell do you expect me to stay calm when you practically sold your own fucking daughter!"
I grabbed my purse and left. I heard him calling my name from the table as I walked out the door, but with the anger boiling inside, I never once looked back.

I kept walking down the sidewalk, when I came across an empty park. The lights were still on so I decided to sit down on one of the swings.
I let my mind wander, mostly thinking about everything that happened today.
So that asshole of a guy is now my h-husband
That word just felt so foreign to me.
and Logan, who I've always thought of as a brother, might like me, and to top it all off, I don't even know if I can trust my own dad anymore.
I looked up at the moon, tears beginning to form in my eyes, but I blinked them away.
Mom
I sighed,
I'm so confused, is this supposed to be some kind of test or something? Can't you just give me a sign? Anything?
"Nice night, huh?"
Startled I looked over to find Jason standing next to the swings, hands in his pockets, looking up at the starry sky.
"I'm not going back there with you, I don't care what my dad says."
"I'm not going to force you to do anything Rexy, trust me, I was surprised as much as you were."
I looked at him confused.
'You didn't know?"
He pulled out a pack of cigarettes, lit one up, and took a few puffs. He then sat down on the swing next to me.
"You think I wanted to get married this way? Yeah my dad thinks marriage is important, but it's all for appearances. People, like our clients, tend to trust a person more when they have a freakishly perfect life. I feel like when it comes to marriage, he never even considered the concept of love."
"What about your mom? Doesn't he love her?"
I heard him scoff
"It's true my dad cared about my mom, but I don't think he ever loved her. After they divorced, he got all of her pictures and burned them, telling me that I'll miss her less if I start forgetting what she looks like. I was still able to save one without him knowing though, even though she's never tried to contact me through the years, it's still the thing I cherish the most."
We sat there in silence, I was still processing everything Jason just told me.
Maybe he's different than I thought he'd be.
"I'm sorry about your parents divorcing." I said, watching the puffs of smoke evaporate into the night air.
He threw his cigarette on the ground and put it out with his shoe.
