I continued school for the next week. It was pretty much the same thing over, and over again. Math homework, history essays, English book reports; you get the idea.
It's Friday, so kind of a lay off day. I sit here in English, waiting for the bell to ring, and school to be over.
The bell rings and I rush out the door. And it just so happens to be my luck, I run into someone, a girl, knocking her to the ground.
"Watch it!" She says. "I-I am so sorry," I start to help her pick up her books.
"What's your name, 'rude person that knocked into me'?" She smirked and I laughed.
"I'm Dylan. And you are?" I question. "I'm Payton. Nice to finally have someone talk to me," her smirk fades, and drops into sorrow.
"Hey, maybe we can hang out sometime. Would that be alright?" I ask. Her eyes lit up like fire as I said this, and she handed me her phone.
She wants my number.
I quickly type in my phone number, and hand it back to her. "I'll call tonight. Are you good at sneaking out of the house during the night?" She asked.
"Actually, their dead. My parents. I'll live alone next month," I say.
"Well, then who's living with you now?" She continues to question me.
We talked as we walked to the buses. I wish my sister would pick me up. I hate the bus.
"What bus do you ride?" She asks. "I ride 11," I reply. "Wow. that's weird, so do I," she farrows her eyebrows in confusion.
I laugh at her expression and she glares at me. "Ok, ok I'm sorry," I surrender.
We walk in the bus, and sit in a seat together.
"I think I might get off at your stop. I don't wanna go home to my drunk brother," she says quietly. I nod.
We get to my house and head inside. I smell food. My sister must be cooking.
Cilia! Dang it! I forgot about her! She is going to question the heck out of me!
"Dylan, is that you?" Cilia says. "Yep, that's me. Hey listen, I brought a friend over we're going to head upstairs. Call us down when dinner's ready!" I shout.
I motion for Payton to follow me. We ran up the stairs, and into my bedroom. Of course, it always has to be my bedroom.
"Why didn't you let me meet your sister? I mean, I think that was your sister. Was it?" Payton asks.
"Yea, it was my sister. And the reason why I didn't let you meet her, is because she will think I've got a new girlfriend already. That's a problem," I reply.
We talk for about a half hour. Great, now Cilia is gonna meet Payton. "Dinner's ready!" Cilia shouts.
Here goes nothin' good. We both walk downstairs, and as soon as we do, Cilia sees Payton. "She your new girlfriend? She's very cute!"
"Ok, no. I knew you would do this. She is not my girlfriend, she's just a friend!," I shout.
After I shouted, both my sister and Payton busted out laughing. "I'm so confused," I say, with raised eyebrows.
We eat and me and Payton go upstairs. "I'll be right back," I tell Payton.
She nods, as I walk to the bathroom. I turn on the shower water, and wait for the water to warm up. I take off my clothes and get in.
I rinse off, and then I hear the door slightly come open. I quickly shield myself as Payton opens the door.
"GET OUT!" I yell. "I am SO sorry," Payton says, as she widens her eyes.
She leaves as she blushes and curses under her breath.
I go back to my room, very embarrassed, to where Payton sat on my bed.
"You should've told me you were taking a shower!" She yelped. We bickered back and forth, until my sister came in.
"Hey! What is going on here!?" Cilia said.
"Nothing!" I scream back. "Just go away and let us talk." she gave me a side ways glance then left the room.
I looked to Payton to see her looking down at her shoes.
"Didn't you hear the water running?" I ask.
"No." she lifted her head as her gaze met mine for a moment and then her eyes darted away.
I felt the awkward tension between us grow stronger.
"Did you-"
"Yeah.." Thankfully she knew what I was talking about and cut me off before the words came out.
