Christina's POV
The sound of ringing from my phone woke me up. I groaned, but sat up, knowing I can't ignore the obnoxious ringtone any longer. I look at the caller I.D., but it says 'Unknown Number'. That's weird, maybe it's the wrong number? My weariness makes me hit the answer button anyways.
"Hello?" I try not to show my morning voice, not wanting whoever this is thinking I'm unattractive.
"Chris?" the familiar voice that I have been waiting for a long time to hear, speaks.
"Dad!" I exclaim, tears in my eyes. I know it's him, he's the only one I let call me 'Chris'.
"Hi baby girl! How are you?" he asks me, his voice brightening.
"Now that I'm talking to you, I'm even better!" I tell him.
He chuckled. "You mean you were in a good mood before I called? Who made you so happy?"
"Well..umm..." I stutter, not knowing what to say.
"It's a boy, isn't it?" I can picture him raising his eyebrows at me.
"Yes..." I admit, my cheeks reddening.
"Alright, explain. First, tell me his name." he demands playfully.
"His name is Niall, and yesterday he told me he loved me! Dad, don't worry! He's such a gentlemen and respects me! Dad, I found my prince." I breathe out, very excited.
"Well, that's good to hear. Maybe I'll meet him someday. Oh wait, um.." his voice trails off.
"Oh wait, what?" I ask.
"Never mind, it's nothing. I'm glad you found love. I just don't want my princess to grow up." he sighed.
"Oh dad," tears brim my eyes, "no matter what, you will always be my king."
"Thanks sweetheart." I can hear him smiling.
"I can't believe you called. You finally got a break?" I asked him, still overwhelmed.
"Well, the phone service started working today, which is a miracle. I have been trying to call you for the past years, but the war zone always cuts into connection." he speaks.
"Oh. I really missed you, though." I said.
"I missed you too, hun." he replies.
"Do you want to speak to mom?" I ask him.
"Already did." I can picture his show off smile, and I playfully rolled my eyes.
"Always a step ahead of me, eh?" I pretend to sound offended.
"100 percent. God, it's good to hear your beautiful voice." he gushed.
I blush. "Aw dad, you're going to make me cry."
I heard a few gunshots in the background. "Shit! Sorry sweetheart, I have to go. But I'll talk to you sometime okay?"
"Okay," I sighed, "I love you daddy."
"I love you too, Chris." he replied.
"Bye." tears were running down my face.
"Bye." he hung up.
I squeal and start dancing around my room. Gah, my dad called me! It was the first time I actually heard his voice in years! I would like to see his face.. but I'd take a phone call any day!
Someone knocks on my door, and I shout, "Come in!"
Niall stepped in, and smiled at the sight of me just dancing around like a lunatic. "Someone is very happy today."
"Guess what!" I say excitedly.
"What?" he chuckled.
"Guess!" I persisted.
"Okay um, you're happy 'cause I'm here?" he guess cluelessly.
"Nope!" I stick my tongue out, "my dad called me!"
"No way! I thought he was in the war?" I love how he's just as excited as me!
"Yeah, but the phone service finally went through!" I jump up and down.
"Awesome! What did you talk about?" he takes a step towards me.
"We caught up, um, I told him about you," I blushed, "but he's fine, as long as you treat me right."
"I will treat you right, you're my princess." Niall comments.
"And you're my prince. Gosh, that was the first time I heard his voice in years..." tears start to fill my eyes again.
He wipes them away from my eyes. "Hey, don't cry. Be happy."
"I am happy, those were tears of joy." I assure him.
"You want to know what's going to make you even more happy?" he smiles cheekily.
"What?" I ask curiously.
"Guess." he teased.
"You're going to kiss me?" I wink.
"No..well yes. But I want to take you on a date with me, tonight." he says.
"Really? Great!" I cheer. My first date with Niall will finally happen!
"I'm glad you're happy." he kisses my cheek.
"Where are we going?" I ask.
"That's a surprise," he winks, "but dress in summer wear."
"Okay." I sighed, disappointed that he won't tell me where we are going.
"You're too cute." he pokes my nose.
My stomach growls out of no where, and I blush in embarrassment. I remember that I need food, so I ran downstairs with Niall trailing behind.
I stop dead in my tracks when I found Harry in the kitchen, his back turned to me. I couldn't move anymore, the events of last night flooding through my head. If I told my dad what happened, he's be here in a split second with a rocket launcher in his hand ready to kill Harry.
"Are you okay?" Niall whispered in my ear.
"I just remembered last night." I motion towards Harry.
"Just remember about the good parts." he assured me, and I nodded.
He knows how to make me feel better. I step into the kitchen, and Harry turns around to notice my presence. He stares at me, and I see that he has been crying. Liar. You don't care for me at all.
I had to get pass him to open the pantry. And let me tell you, it was absolutely awkward...I shrugged it off though and grabbed the milk.
I also grabbed a Pop Tart and started eating my breakfast. Harry continued to stare at me, and I just wanted to slap him to get him to stop.
He clears his throat, getting me to look at him. "Look Christina..."
I groan. "Harry, stop. It's over with, you've done enough damage."
"I'm just really sorry." he says apologetically.
"Saying 'sorry' won't fix your mistake," I spat, "why'd you do it anyways?"
"Well..." his voice trails off.
"You did it because I wouldn't have sex with you, isn't is?" I didn't even have to question it, I knew it was true.
"Yes." he admitted.
"Disgusting," I rolled my eyes, "and it was stupid of me to think you've changed."
He doesn't say anything, and I finish up my breakfast. I run up to my room. No, I will not let Harry ruin my good mood, that I am persistent to keep.
-
I had an hour to get ready for my date with Niall, and I just can't stop saying that in my head. I'm so happy, and I feel like I can't just be me. He literally makes my heart flutter whenever he's around, and I get butterflies in the pit of my stomach just at the sight of him. If this what love is? I like it.
I step in the shower, and start rubbing my hair with my strawberry scented shampoo. I rub my body with my vanilla body wash, and try to go as quick as I can. I rinse off and once I am done I jump out of the shower without slipping, which is quite impressive. I quickly dried off, and got my outfit ready.
I put on light blue jean shorts, a t-shirt with the American Flag, and a pair of purple Jordan's. I brush my hair and throw it in a tight and cute ponytail, and I put on a little pink lipgloss. I pop a mint in my mouth and left the bathroom.
I put my phone, wallet, and keys into my pocket. There is a knock on my bedroom door, and my heart is pounding. I'm just really nervous on this date, what if he doesn't like me after all?
"Come in." I shout, and the door opened.
Niall was wearing tan capris, a plain white t-shirt, and a pair of black pumas. He smiled and walked over to me, my heart still pounding in my chest. Stay cool Christina, stay cool.
"Hey Christina," he greets, "you look beautiful, as always."
I blush. "Thank you, Niall. You look really cute, as always."
He grins and winks at me. He grabs my hand, making my heart flutter even more. I don't think this is normal.
No. This is love.
I ignore my brain's witty comment and follow Niall out the door, him still holding my hand. He leans in and whispers in my ear, "we're just going to walk. It's not far from here."
I nod, unable to say anything. If I do, I might say something stupid or my heart will come out. And I do not want Niall to see that.
After a few minutes of walking in a comfortable silence, Niall stops walking, causing me to stop walking. He whispers in my ear again, "close your eyes."
I give him a look of confusion, but I obey. I feel myself being picked up, and he starts walking again. Aw, how sweet. Well he did tell me to close my eyes, and I might have fallen if I continued to walk myself.
"Okay Christina. You can open your eyes now." Niall's voice broke me from my thoughts.
I opened my eyes, and stared in awe at the sight in front of me. A smile tugs on my lips as excitement envelopes my body. Niall took me to a carnival, that's so awesome!
"It's beautiful, thank you." I tell him sincerely.
"You're welcome. I also got it to ourselves, just in case crazy fans might have surrounded us." he adds.
A carnival all to ourselves? That's amazing! I can't wait to have fun!
-
We go on the last ride, which is the Ferris Wheel. We did everything at the carnival, and had a blast. We got to know each other a lot more better, and I could already feel myself being very close to him.
The cart we are in stops at the top, and I stare at the beautiful view. No, I'm not scared of heights, but if you shake the cart violently like my bestie Lana did once, I will scream like a hyena.
"It's beautiful." I mutter.
"Meh, I've seen better sights." Niall mumbled.
"Oh yeah? Like what?" I smirk.
"Like you." he says, staring at me.
I blush, and ignore the fact that his comment was incredibly cheesy. I really like it, I really like him. He starts to lean in, and so do I. But before our lips meet, our cart moves down and we finally get to the bottom. Dammit, I wanted to kiss him.
-
When I enter my bedroom, I start dancing around my room like a maniac. An exciting feeling takes over me, and I couldn't be anymore happier.
My phone rings, and shows that it's an Unknown Number, just like this morning.
"Hello?" I said, answering it.
"Hi Chris!" my dad's voice booms.
"You seem happier than before. What's up?" he asks curiously.
"Well I just got back from the best date ever!" I squeal.
"Oh really now. Tell me every single detail." I can imagine him smirking right now.
I tell him everything about the date, and even he seems impressed! He actually gave me the impression that he likes Niall, a lot! Oh how I hope that he gets to meet him someday.
"Sounds fun. I like this Niall lad." he comments.
"Hey dad, I've been meaning to ask you, did you get all those letters I've sent you?" I ask.
"Um, yes honey. I really liked them." He answers, sounding a little nervous.
"Are you okay dad?" I ask him, feeling worried. I'm sure he's fine, right?
"Yeah, I'm fine Chris. Don't worry about me. Just know that I will always love you, okay?" he speaks.
"Okay.." I said, slightly not believing him.
"Alright, um, I have to go." he says, nervously again!
"Okay." I sighed, a little frustrated.
"Bye." he mumbled, and I hear a yelling in the background.
"Bye." I hang up.
I couldn't help but get the feeling that my dad is hiding something. But he never holds secrets from me, yet he was acting really strange, like he was scared even. I hope everything is alright.
I change into my pajamas, still thinking about my dad. But he said not to worry, so I shouldn't. My dad knows what to do in every situation, he's really strong. I have to think good thoughts, seriously.
I start thinking about Niall, and I turn off my lights. I did a little prayer for my dad, then I fell into a deep sleep, trying to think of good and happy thoughts.
Hi. Okay, I'm kind of sad here. Today has been exactly one year my grandpa has died. I'm hurt, and I can't get use to it. I was so close to him. He made me laugh and feel beautiful, and I miss him. I love you grandpa, rest in paradise my little angel. 👼❤️ Keep reading, vote, and fan! xx
