Christina's POV

A phone call woke me the next morning. My eyes brightened and I got excited, only to be disappointed as I remembered that my dad was dead. He died for me; and it didn't even matter anyways. Snake was going to attempt to kill me, if it weren't for the other guys. Sighing, I answered the phone.

"Hello?" I spoke, whilst yawning. Did I forget to mention that it's MORNING?!

"Hello Christina," my mother's voice broke through the phone, "I was just calling to tell you that I want you at my office today, I want to discuss something with you."

I inwardly groaned. For pete's sake, I just got out of the hospital, why won't you let me rest? "Okay. When do you want me there?"

"Ten o'clock is fine." she said. I looked at the clock, seeing that I have an hour to get ready.

"I'll be there. Bye." I yawn again.

"Bye." she hung up.

I sat up on my bed, and stood up. I walked over to my closet, and just chose one of my lazy outfits. I put on a pair of blue sweats, a blue sweatshirt that says 'PINK!' in bold silver letters, and my light blue Vans. I pulled my hair into a messy bun, and brushed my teeth.

It was very bright out, and so I put my sunglasses on. I realized that I was wearing sweats in California climate, but I didn't care. My thigh was still in pain, so basically I'm just hobbling for the day, and that thought puts me in a bad mood already.

I knocked on my mom's office door, as I just stared blankly off into space. The door opened, and I gasped inwardly as I took a look at my mother. She looked horrible. No offense to her.

But she was wearing sweats, like me, but they were black. She had on black converse, which I rarely ever see her wear, since she's not a sneaker type, as she has always says, and I quote, "Sneakers are for pedestrians."

Her blonde hair was tied up in messy bun like mine, and she wasn't wearing any makeup, at all, which was the most surprising. She would never leave the house without makeup on, until now.

She had bags under her eyes, they weren't that bad, but they were visible. Overall her look seemed effortless, but then I realized: the love of her life is dead. Because of me.

"Christina, don't cry." my mother croaked.

I saw the tears dripping from my own eyes rapidly, I couldn't control them. It was my fault my dad was dead, if I hadn't gone on that black bus, he would still be alive.

"It was m-my fault." I choked on my own words.

"Nonsense," she whispered, "the only fault is was, was the horrid assassin. It was definitely not your fault."

"What happened to Snake?" I managed to ask.

"That man is locked up in prison for the rest of his life." she answered, her emotions now hiding.

"So what did you want to talk about?" I ask, remembering this morning.

"Oh. I just wanted to make sure you're, um, alright." I could there was more, but I let it go. She didn't seem to be in the mood for interrogation.

"Okay, well I'm fine. Just in a little pain, that's all." I say.

"Why don't you go to the cafeteria and eat something? And then you can go home and rest." she suggested.

I nodded, and walked out of her office. I took the elevator all the way down, giving me time to just think. Things were different now, and I don't know what will happen.
