The person under the hood was female, she had blue eyes with matching long blue hair, something about them seemed familiar but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.
"Y/n?" She said my name like she was confused, had she recognized me? The way she had said my name sounded like she knew me from some were, that's when I realized why the person looked so familiar, "Danny?" I asked cooking my hand to the side. I watched as a smile spread across her face. "I've missed you!" She squealed dropping her sword and running up to me. We embraced each other, hugging like we would never see each other ever again.

Danny was my childhood friend, back before the arranged marriage between me and Zane, back before I had met any of the Ro'maeve family there was just me and Danny, we were probably about eight when we first met, and I remember Danny telling me that her and her family moved around a lot. We were the best of friends, my mother even called us 'inseparable' and it was true for the most part. I remember the day Danny told me that her and her family were moving again, she never really told me why. I was probably about eleven or so, Danny had been my only friend so upon losing her I became a shut in, keeping myself locked up in my room. I remember she would come back to v/n every year for my birthday and when we were seventeen she came down for an entire winter but after she left I never saw her again, she just...disappeared.

Hugging her now brought back the memories we shared of us running about the castle halls, and playing hide and seek in the courtyard, we would even have sword fights with makeshift wooden swords. I pulled back to look at my long lost friend, "It's been so long I was worried! After you just stopped visiting me I thought something had happened!" I said gripping her shoulder tight. "Me! I had heard rumors that the princess of v/n was dead!" My heart stopped, people really believed I was dead? I shook myself and gave her a smile "hold on, y/n!? You know this person!?" Laurence yelled, confused as he got up and rubbed his head. "Who is this idiot?" Danny asked eyeing Laurence "that's my brother." Danny gave me a shocked look. I glanced from Laurence to Danny, "I think we have some catching up to do" I said with a chuckle. "Y/n! She's a criminal! Didn't you see her, she was with this group if thieves!" I gave Danny a questioning look and she sighed, "It's a long story, like you said we have some catching up to do" I nodded, "c'mon let's go" I said as I helped Laurence with the other members of the criminal group.

When we reached the guard tower and the group of thieves was properly locked up Danny and I took our chance to catch up. "oh, my Irene y/n, I'm so sorry." Danny said after I finished telling her about what had happened with Zane and why rumors were spreading about my death. "it's alright, I'm going to save him, I don't care what it takes or what I have to do I'm going to get him back."

"You truly love him, don't you?" Danny said. i stopped at her words, no one had really ever said that, I had come to terms with the fact that I had fallen hopelessly with him a few years ago and I had never really heard the words out loud before. I nodded my head in response unable to find the words to respond. "but what about you? what happened?" I asked in attempts to change the subject. "I left, I was tired of continuously moving, I wanted a life of my own, so I left."

"how did you end up with them?" I asked gesturing to the men in the cells. "well I needed somewhere to go. I was held up in a small village, I forget the name, something that started with an M, what ever I don't remember and it's not important, so I was there for a few years before I found this group. I decided to stick with them, I figured being with them was better than no one."

"so you just started a life of thievery? how is that better? Y/n how can you trust this person?!" Laurence protested. I put my hand up to silence him. Danny rolled her eyes and continued, "I didn't steal from people, in fact I constantly tried to convince them to get real jobs but of course they refused, and who was I to stop them? they kept me fed and clothed, and that was enough for me." She said shrugging her shoulders "well you don't have to worry about that any more, this is your home now, you can stay in Phoenix Drop."

"Where do you expect her to stay!" Laurence cried out in protest once again, "she can stay with me, my house my not be finished but I have more than enough room for her there."

"Thank you Y/n" Just then the door to the guard tower opened and Garroth walked in, taking his helmet off and setting it on the table. I noticed Danny's face turn a light shade of pink. A smile tugged at the corner of my lips as I remembered, Danny always did have a crush on Garroth. He looked at her now a look of confusion spread across hi face. "Who is this?" Garroth hummed, "I seem to remember you from some where, but I can't quite put my finger on it, my apologies, it's very rude of me to forget such a beautiful face but, might I ask your name?" He asked "Garroth this is Danny, you remember my friend whom stayed with me that entire winter, I had brought her to the castle on numerous occasions."

"yes! I do remember!" He exclaimed cheerfully. "it's so wonderful to see you again!" He said. you could practically see the steam erupting from Laurence's ears. "but, what are you doing here?" Garroth questioned. "She's a criminal!" Laurence blurted, "She was with the group of thieves we were searching for!" He yelled gesturing to the cells. "Laurence stop! I told you that you can trust her and it really hurts that you don't believe me. You heard her side of the story so why cant you just leave well enough alone?" I asked. Laurence stopped, obviously sorry and he offer an apology, "I'm sorry, you're right, I trust you and if you trust her than I will do my best to respect that" I nodded my head. "thank you."

The door opened once again and this time Dante walked in. "Oh! Dante how nice of you to join us! here! meet my friends Danny!" I happily yelled. Dante's gaze landed on Danny and all he color had drained from his face. "Dante? are you alright?" I asked concerned for my friend. "I- uh-I seemed to have forgotten something." He quickly said as he raced back out the door, slamming it behind him.
