Chapter Thirty-three

Friday.

Fridays are always good, right? It was the last day of classes. The beginning of the weekend.
So, Fridays had to be good by law, right?

Wrong.

Harry stretched as he made his way towards the dining hall. Draco had already left for breakfast early, and since Harry didn't do early, he was left behind. He opened the hall doors, only to realize the dining hall to be dead silent. Everyone was staring at the Daily Prophet.

Harry felt a pit grow in his stomach; what happened?

He slowly walked to his spot and squeezed in between Ron and Hermione.

He scanned the dining hall, his eyes landing on a particular blond, who was also staring at something on the table; his eyes wide with shock.

Harry's heart flipped, something's wrong.

He looked over to Hermione, whose eyes were just as big as Draco's and locked on the Daily Prophet.

Harry's eyes darted back to Draco, who abruptly shot up, startling his friends. He locked eyes with Harry. As soon as they locked eyes, Harry felt his heart plummet to his stomach.
Draco's cheeks were streaked with tear stains, and his eyes were glossed over; holding nothing but fear.
Before Harry could comprehend what was happening, his boyfriend rushed out of the dining hall.

"Harry," Hermione whispered, her voice barely audible, "look." Her voice cracked.

Harry looked down at the Daily Prophet, and his stomach churned at the head title;

LUCIUS MALFOY HAS ESCAPED FROM AZKABAN.

Harry shot up, just the same as Draco, and rushed out of the dining hall -- After his boyfriend.
His heart was beating rapidly, but he knew exactly where Draco would be.

Harry briskly made his way to the bathroom -- the same bathroom in which Harry used sectumsempra on Draco.

S

hivers ran down his spine at the memory, but it just encouraged him to move faster.

As soon as he made it into the bathroom he spotted the blond. He was once again doubled over the sink; clutching onto the sides; just as before.

"Draco," Harry breathed, relieved he was okay; and that he was where he suspected him to be.

As soon as Draco heard Harry's voice he wiped his tears and stood up straight, only looking at Harry's reflection in the mirror.

"Get out." Draco demanded in a whisper.

"Drac-"

"OUT!" He spun around, shooting a hex at Harry.
Harry ducked, the Hex missing him by an inch.

"Draco, stop!" Harry shouted.

It seemed like this bathroom was just bad luck for them.

"Get out!" Draco cried, shooting another hex.

Harry managed to dodge that one, too, but the third one came to quick and hit him in the shoulder before he had a chance to move.

Harry gasped and grabbed his shoulder where the hex had hit; slumping against the wall and gritting his teeth.

As soon as Draco had realized he hurt Harry, he dropped his wand, "fuck," He whispered, rushing to Harry's side.

He sunk down to Harry, "fuck -- Harry, I'm -- I'm so sorry," Draco's voice shook, "I- I... I didn't know what I was--" he stuttered.

"Shh, Draco, it's fine." Harry assured, "it was a weak hex, it'll ju-" He cut his sentence off as he cringed at the sting, "it'll just take a few minutes to heal." He finished.

Draco allowed a tear to slip, "I dragged you into this mess." He whispered. "My father..." his voice cracked at the thought of Lucius escaping, "he's going to kill you."

"Hey, I won't let that happen," Harry assured, "I promise." He pulled Draco onto his knees and wrapped his arms securely around the blond. He cringed slightly as he moved his sore arm, but ignored it; Draco is more important.

Draco dug his face into the crook of Harry's neck, tears immediately streamed his cheeks and soaked Harry's shoulder.

"I'm sorry." Draco whispered, "I'm so, so s-sorry." His voice cracked, making Harry's heart twist. "I don't know why I shot those hexes. I was scared. I'm sorry."

"It's okay, Draco," Harry assured, pulling the blond closer to him, "nothing's going to happen to me. And nothing's going to happen to you. I'll keep you safe, I promise. Hogwarts is a safe place. You'll be fine."

"I'm not worried about myself." Draco whispered. "I'm worried about you."

Harry's heart broke even more at his sentence, but he didn't reply. Instead, he simply tightened his grip on Draco... as if he'd never be able to hold him again. As if this is the last time he's ever hold Draco again -- ever touch him again.

And something in the back of his mind feared he wouldn't.
