Chapter 5 ~ The Funeral

A/N: Play song above after Adam is done talking. 

Briana's POV

     It had been nearly a week since the earthquake, and I was still grieving about Max being gone. A couple days ago, I had my first ultrasound. Luckily, the baby was still in great condition. However, the doctors also told me that even though I had no damage to my body, I would still have to visit them next week, as my cancer had now returned stronger than before, making my body weak, and potentially able to bring harm to the baby. 

     While Alesa was making pancakes, I sat in my wheelchair, looking out the front window at the lake. In the distance, I saw a young couple with their little boy, playing in the sand. As I watched them, I thought of Max. Before long, I started crying. Oh, how I missed Max so much. Luckily, Adam and everyone else at the offices were helping me to arrange Max's funeral. I started to head out, but before I reached the door, I saw my phone buzzing with e-mails. I looked at them, and it said,"Thank you again for joining Raoul's Military Training Academy. We are looking forward to having you here." I stared in amazement at the e-mail, for I never knew Max had even enrolled into this place. Here I was, arranging his funeral, and he never even bothered to tell me, his own girlfriend, about this. To be honest, I was a little heartbroken. 

    

(Timeskip to the funeral)

Adam's POV

     I sat in the second row, with tears streaming down my face. Now that Max was gone, everything at the offices, everything in general, would be different. Max was one of my best friends, almost like a brother to me. I sat in silence next to Briana and Alesa, and suddenly heard my name being called to go up and give any thoughts of Max. I walked up to the podium, and unconsciously said,"Max was not only a friend to me, but a brother. Though he had his moments, he was always good at heart. Had it not been for him, SkyMedia would probably have never even existed. Before the incident, Max told me that if anything ever happened to Briana, that I should take care of her no matter what. Before the proposal, Briana told me that she was pregnant with a little boy. She had asked me to be the godfather of the child. Now that I have had the time to think about it, I will accept. Briana, I hope you know that your baby will be almost like a second son to me. There was also a time when Max had also told me that once he proposed to Briana, he was going to sing her favorite song,"Hallelujah". But now that he is gone, I would know that he would want me to sing this song. This song is dedicated to Max and Briana. Briana, I'm so sorry for your loss."

(Play Song, but pretend Adam is singing it)

Briana's POV

       I walked up to Adam after he was done singing, and embraced him in a big hug. I started crying into his shoulder, and before I knew it, Ross, Tim, Alesa, Jess, Barney, and everyone else at the offices had come into a big hug. We would all miss Max. Everything would be different now that he was gone. Life would never be the same without Max... Never...
