After getting back to the Lockwood’s, I sat on one of the sofas whilst Elijah stood by the fireplace.
“Why don’t you trust me?” He asked making eye contact.
“Why would I trust you?"
He stayed silent, even when Elena walked through the door. He kept his gaze on me.
“Are you ok?” Elena asked as she sat down next to me. I tore my gaze from Elijah’s and turned to her.
“I’m perfectly fine.” I gave her a small smile.
Elena turned back to Elijah. “Now, can you tell me about the Klaus’ curse?”
Elijah sat down of the other side of the sofa, so I was sat in the middle of them both, before speaking.
“Klaus and my father did not get on too well. When we became vampires we discovered the truth; Klaus was not my father’s son.” He paused to take in our reactions.
Elena’s eyes widened slightly. Whist I kept my expression completely neutral, I didn't want to show my suprise.
“My mother had been unfaithful many years before, this was her darkest secret; Klaus is from a different bloodline. Of course when my father discovered this, he hunted down and killed my mother’s lover. But little did he know he was igniting a war between species that rages to this day.”
“A war between the species?” Elena asked confused.
“The vampires and the werewolf’s.” Elijah said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“So, Klaus if from a werewolf bloodline? So what does that make Klaus…a werewolf or a vampire?” She questioned again.
“He’s both.” I spoke up, making them both look at me in surprise.
~~~
“A hybrid would be deadlier than any werewolf or vampire. Nature would not stand for such an in balance of power. Therefore the witches that serve nature stopped this.”
“That’s the curse?”
“He wants to trigger the werewolf part of him. If allowed. Klaus would sire his own bloodline; he’s build his own race.” Was all he responded with.
“But you helped him.” Elena stated.
“I helped him because I loved him.”
“And you say that Klaus can’t be killed?”
“There’s one way to kill any supernatural species. The hands of the surface of nature itself.”
“A witch, if they can channel that much power.” I frowned. “It would kill them.”
I leant against the wall, feeling exhausted.
“The curse must be broken during a full moon.” Elijah said, walking towards me. “That’s when Klaus will be at his most vulnerable. A witch with enough power. Can kill Klaus.” By now he was just in front of me. Waiting for my reaction.
I looked towards Elena who nodded slightly telling me to say it.
“What if I told you that we know a witch, who can channel that much power?” I asked looking him straight in the eye.
“Then I would tell you just one more thing. That you should know that I found a way to save the doppelganger.”
I looked towards Elena to see that she looked just as shocked as I felt.
And then without a word, Elijah headed towards the door.
I looked at Elena, before we both quickly followed him.
