My heart dropped into the pit of my stomach, the figures scared out of their minds standing trembling from the cold freezing air, only tattered up blankets to keep them warm. Liam took notice to my absence and placed a hand on my shoulder until he took in the figures.

The two shadowy figures approached shakily.

"Darlene?" the little five year old boy cried out running, his warmth dropping to the ground the girl standing confused.

"James." I whispered hugging the small curly haired child. I stood firmly spinning him around then bending back down holding my hand out to Makena his best friend.

Makena stood confused and shocked until dropping her blanket also running into my open arms. I kissed their forehands happy I found new familiar faces I dearly missed.

Liam smiled, a single tear rolling down his cheek before he picked up the grocery sacs I had dropped. I carried James, Makena at my side walking closely fisting the small part of my tee shirt that was visible.

"Look who we found." I said as we caught up with Daryl and Beth.

Beth stared at the children before hugging them tightly. "You poor babies. " she said in her strong countryside accent.

* *

"Don't be shy." I said. Makena and James peered from behind my legs at the rest of our small group of survivors.

"Hello there I'm Niall." he spoke bending down to their height.

"Hi kiddies, I'm Harry." Harry said. James stood out walking towards him before hugging him.

"Mason." he whispered.

A tear fell from my eye. I had forgotten when we first meet.

Mason was James' older brother. He had sworn to protect James till the end but one night at one of our nourtous camp sites Mason was bit and died late that night of fever. Nearly killing James after he turned into one of them, but I saved James killing his brother in the process.

As for Makena, she came from Woodbury.

"We're they bit?" Louis asked exclaiming them.

"No." James whispered clutching onto Harry. James flicked his hair like Harry always does, keeping it out of his face the child's big brown eyes focusing on me.

"What happened, exactly, Makena."

She had kept quite all this time and I was shocked to be honest, back at the prison she was quite a talker.

"We were with the other group and got separated." she muttered twisting her foot, shyly.

"Which group?" I curiously asked wondering if she meant Glenn, Rick or Sasha and Tyreese at least someone else we knew. She could direct us to them and help bring this family back together.

"Glenn's."

"How'd you separate?" Daryl spoke for me rubbing Makena's back.

"A herd attacked the bus." she whispered tears evident in her gray-blue eyes.

I stood leaning back against the wall.

No!

No, no, no. This can't be true. If so they could be dead for all we know or worst the. . .undead.

"Did-" Daryl cut me off. "Dar, hush well find 'em." he said taking Makena into the other room with Eleanor and Perrie hoping Makena would speak to them at the most, their voices gentle and calm unlike mine in this situation.

I banged my head on fridge pounding my fist on it as well. This isn't what I asked for. Glenn and Maggie were like that older brother or sister and their boyfriend-girlfriend who was always their when Daryl or Merle wasn't. In my case a lot of the people I used to live with in the prison were considered family and more, like Niall.
