Arias POV
I looked down and smiled. Did I really have that effect on him? I smiled and looked at the back of his head as he washed down one of the tables.
"Keep up the good work," Dan smiled at me.
"You really want me to keep 'this," I gestered to the wet floor, "Up?" I laughed.
"Okay, maybe not that." he agreed laughing along.
He walked away into the back and I looked back up to the screen. Okay, I can do this, I told myself. Just be extra careful.
I kept smiling as I started scooping out ice cream and applying the toppings.
"You know, scooping ice cream really isn't that fun." I heard a voice behind me say.
I bit my lip and turned around knowing it was him, "You know its not nice to sneak up on someone while they're working." I replied smiling.
"I was actually checking up on you, making sure you weren't messing anything up." Nathan replied looking down at my ice cream and then up at the screen. "You didn't add a cherry," he added.
"Did I say I was done?" I mumbled and then took a cherry out of the bowl and placed it on the top of the ice cream. I handed the cup to him, "Is this perfect enough for you, your highness?" I asked.
"Nope, but this customer has been waiting a while, so I guess this will have to do." he said and walked away over to the counter.
I huffed, "I'm trying my best!" I mumbled to myself.
I wasn't sure if he heard that or not, but I continued on working. As it got closer to lunch, I was starving. It was 12:45 and I could hear my stomach growling. I sighed and walked over to Nathan,
"I'm starving." I state as soon as I see him.
"Hi Starving, I'm Nathan. Get back to work." He looked up at me and then went back to work.
'Ha, you're hilarious." I rolled my eyes. "But, I'm serious. Isn't there like a law that you have to give us lunch breaks."
"Yes, there is." he says standing up brushing his hands on his pants. "But that was at 12:30, and ends at 12:45." He looked down at his watch. "Just missed it." He smiled at me. "Next time be more careful about your meals." He walked away.
"Woah woah woah. No. I need lunch." I walked after him.
"Fine! You get 10 minutes. Go eat and I expect you to be back out in a snap." He gestured me away.
"Heres the thing," I started to say swaying on my feet. "I don't have a lunch with me."
"And thats my problem... How?" He says not looking at me.
"Could you be a bigger jerk," I mumble.
"Actually, I could." He replied turning around looking at me. He looked down at his watch, "Youve got 7 minutes."
I ignored his statement and turned around and walked out of the shop. What did I get myself into, I can't let him get to me. I'm doing this for Lola. I start walking around looking for a place to grab a sandwich. I see a cafè. Perfect. I walk inside, and look at the menu.
I walk up to the counter and order a sandwich and a small coffee.
"That'll be $5.37," the girl said. I reached toward my pocket to get my wallet. I then realized I left it back at the ice cream shop.
