"Hey."

Barbara turned up from her phone to see Dick, "hey, Boy Wonder."

Dick came and sat on her hospital bed and took her hand, giving it a kiss, "how are you feeling?"

"You ask that question every time." Barbara sighed, "it'll be the same answer every time. I'll have many more surgeries after this one, I'm sure. And still nothing will change."

"Don't say that." Dick shook his head, "this time will be different. I'm sure of it."

"There you go again. All so optimistic." Barbara chuckled and looked away. They sat in silence for some time, until Barbara cleared her throat, "So?"

"So what?"

"How was it?"

Dick chuckled, "I couldn't believe this guy..."

"What happened?"

He only shook his head and sighed, "it's gone. He lost his speed."

"Oh... Could this mean something? I am going into surgery after all."

"Let's just hope it's a good sign. After all these surgeries in the past, nothing's worked."

"Well." She took his hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze, "I just know it... This is it."

Dick rose and eyebrow, "sudden change of heart?"

"I meant for Wally." Barbara chuckled, "I may not have a chance.... Dick?"

"Hm?"

"If we ever get Bart back... I want to buy a house, start a family, get... married?"

"Is that so?"

"Yeah." Barbara smiled.

Dick looked down at the ground, then looked back up at her, "how about this. I'll make you a deal. A bet."

Barbara rose an eyebrow, "a bet?"

"Yeah. If this surgery does nothing, then I will let you lead the team."

Barbara laughed, "you can't be serious!"

"Oh I am." Dick smirked, "and if this surgery changes anything at all, for the best or the worst, then..."

"Then?"

"You have to say 'I do' to whatever I ask you."

"That's it?"

"Yes."

"Compared to me leading the team, that's nothing!" Barbara nodded, "I'll take that bet." She shook Dick's hand, and he smiled in satisfaction.

They heard a knock at the door, and the two turned to see a nurse, "I'm here to take Ms. Gordon to the surgery."

"Alright." Dick nodded, then turned back to Barbara, "I'm going to win this bet."

"We'll see." Barbara smiled, "the next time you see me, I'll be leading the team."

Dick laughed as he leaned in and gave her a kiss before the nurses came in and pushed her bed out the door.

He smiled to himself, until he felt the vibration of his phone in his pocket, "Dick Grayson."

"Hey, Dick."
