A New Guy
It has been two years since Liyah gave birth to her beautiful daughter , Egypt Kianna Taylor. Liyah had been doing very well since Egypt's birth. She has made up with her parents, attends Miami College of Culinary Arts, and has her own apartment.
One day, while in the mall shopping with Egypt, a very handsome guy approached her. "Excuse me miss? May I ask you a very important question? " She looked at him. He was tall, light caramel skin tone, Lots of tattoos, and the most beautiful smile. She replied "Umm, sure. " He then hesitated a little , then finally asked "Do you believe in love at first sight?" She laughed and said "That's so shallow. There is no such thing as love " He replied "Of course there is! If there isn't a such thing as love , than what was that overwhelming feeling I just received when I saw you walk past me so confidently?" She laughed again and said "What you felt was lust, not love. I walked past so confidently because no one will ever bring me down again , and if you knew my past, you'll know exactly why I don't believe in love."
As She turned to walk away he stopped her. "Ma'am I never got your name! " She turned back around "Hi I'm Liyah, and this is my daughter Egypt! And you are? -" He smiled and said "I'm August! Can we exchanged numbers? " She stopped smiling and said "I'm afraid I can't let that happen." She quickly walked away without saying goodbye.
Liyah was very insecure. She knew that all men were the same and every man would treat her exactly how Tremaine treated her. Little did She know, She was wrong. Not all men are like Tremaine.
As Liyah and Egypt were making their way across the mall's parking lot, towards the bus stop, a yellow Ford Mustang with black racing stripes hooked it's horn. Liyah ignored and kept walking. Then, She hears August's voice. "Liyah!". She turns around to see him sitting behind the wheel of the beautiful car. He winks an flashes a smile. She then asks "What is it that you want from me?" He says "I was just on my way home and I saw you and your beautiful daughter walking. You look really tired and I wanted to offer you a ride to your car." She says "No Thanks! I don't have a car right now." When She says that he looks across the parking lot to see the filthy bus stop that She was headed to. The people there looked cold, as though they had been waiting for hours. "Get in" August said. " Excuse me?" asked Liyah. "Look, You're not being really reasonable. I'm trying to do you a favor. It's way too cold for you and your daughter to be standing out here waiting on the bus. Now hop in and I'll take you home " Liyah then said "Well I don't have any money to give you." "Don't worry about money, I won't make you pay" said August. Liyah asked "Why are you being so nice to me?" August looks confused. "I'm supposed to be nice". Liyah decided to get into the car. She strapped Egypt's seatbelt and got in the front seat. "Where are you headed pretty lady?" asked August. Liyah said "I'm going to the apartment building on the corner of Pine road and 15th street."
During the ride, Liyah finally let her gaurd down. She knew that he'd ask for her number again, so she just went ahead and gave him her number. When they arrived to her house, she gave him a hug goodnight and went in the house.
