Chapter One: As Normal As It Can Get
●○●○●
My name's Tsukamoto Kaiya. And I'm not normal. I mean, I used to be. But now, free from school and other distractions, I can focus on what I want to do in my life. And right now, I'm serving the person who made this all possible.
"Shirayuki-san!"
Her long red hair sways as she reacts to my voice. With a gentle smile, I gave her the book she was asking for, "Here it is, Shirayuki-san! Is there anything else you want me to help you with?" I inquired, my hands intertwined behind me whilst I waited for her reply.
Shirayuki-san shakes her head as a response, and gestures towards the second floor of the house. "I don't think I need any help as of now. But I'll call you right away when you're in need," Shirayuki-san tells me, not even bothering to look my way because she was too busy making medicine for one of the elders.
With a nod, I do as she says without much complaint. And with excitement, I grabbed the notebook that belonged to me that was placed on top of the table, and headed towards the room across Shirayuki-san's. It used to be a room without nobody actually claiming it as their own because Shirayuki-san had her own, and when I moved in with her it was only then that it was occupied.
I feel so grateful. If I hadn't met Shirayuki-san, I wouldn't be able to have this kind of life, I would probably still be in the orphanage and was forced to go to school; but it's not like I hated school, I had many friends and a pretty normal life, but I wasn't really interested in all of the classes because it didn't piqued my interests at all. However, I am glad that I at least paid enough attention in my Literature and other classes that had to do with writing, it had enhanced my skills and I was really happy about it.
And, not to mention that as young as I am, I had already written a book and had it published. Sadly, though, when my book was finally able to be read and placed in the library, it was actually delivered at a different library somewhere. I don't mind, honestly, because someone out there would still be able to read something I had made with my own hands and feelings and thoughts.
"It's been two years, anyway. I hope many has already read it," I said my thoughts out loud, sighing as I sat down on my desk and got into writing.
Everyday when I have time, be it either when Shirayuki-san doesn't have any tasks for me to do or when I feel like it, I write my thoughts and other things in my notebook. I don't write secrets or personal feelings though, because it would be bad if someone would be able to read it; I mean, it's stupid, in my opinion. I know that it would help you recollect your thoughts or whatsoever, but I don't really do that, its not my thing. But other than that, I also write story ideas, song lyrics, and theories just in case I might use that in a story. I write song lyrics I made up, because its a way other than writing a story to get my feelings out.
"Kaiya-chan!"
Zoning back in, I stand back up, pushing the chair rather harshly, and jog out of my room. "Need me for something, Shirayuki-san?" I buzzed, eager to hear her tell me something to do. If Shirayuki-san needs help in something, then I'll gladly do it! I practically owe her my whole life!
"Kaiya-chan, can you help me prep the ingredients for lunch?" Requested the red head from below.
I hummed, rushing quickly downstairs, "I'll gladly help! What are having for lunch?"
"We're having the usual," answered Shirayuki-san, smiling. Her smile turns into a small frown as she stares at the ingredients prepared at the counter. "Ah, I forgot to buy some carrots. Would you rathe--"
