Chapter Five: She'll Be So Far I Can't Even Reach Her

"Shirayuki-san!" I called for her name, opening the door of our apartment, I had been downstairs when I heard that she had returned probably because of Zen. He sure is reliable, I feel guilty about doubting him the other day about him being able to either find Shirayuki-san or not. I haven't seen her for two days, and we both worried each other, I have to apologize!
"Kaiya-chan?"
".. S... Shirayuki-san!" Once again, I uttered her name even if I was already in front of her and she could hear me loud and clear. ".... I-I was looking all over for you..!" I exclaimed, clutching the top I was wearing, "And I also apologize, for not being there for you.." By now, my ragged breathing came to a stop, and was replaced by a calm breathing pattern.
At first, the red head was confused as to what I was referring to. But it then dawned to her what I had meant after a few seconds of thinking. "It's okay, Kaiya-chan. You don't have to worry about anything," she protests easily, shaking her head as her red locks moved in sync.
I, being the defensive person I was, was about to argue with her excuse, but it was stopped when I hear someone knocking on the door.
"I'll go get it."
"We can talk about this later on," I sighed, ruffling my undone hair as I went to Shirayuki-san and I's shared room. Since it was only a small apartment, and we almost had little to no money, this was the only place we could go. It may be small in comparison to our old home back in Tanbarun, and we sometimes lack a few things, but it was home; and I'm sure Shirayuki-san thought the same, as long as I'm with her where we can be both guided by each other, then I'm okay.

"Hello!"
"Oh, Shirayuki-dono, are you here to see Prince Zen again?"
"Not really. Kiki and Mitsuhide asked me to come here."
Putting a smile on my face, I bowed to the guards. "H-Hello. I'm Shirayuki-san's friend, Tsukamoto Kaiya.." I introduced myself, but I was really nervous about this. There really wasn't anything to be afraid of, but being in a Royal's castle is just nerve wrecking!
"Ah! It's you, too!"
Eh? Does this guy know me?
My eyes twitched in anticipation of what the younger looking guard was about to say. Was he about to criticize me? Please no.
"Sorry! W-We just heard about you from Prince Zen!"
They also talk about me? Its an understatement if its Shirayuki-san, but me?
"Um. I've been wondering about this for awhile now.."
Zoning out, I blocked out the voices that I could hear around me and focused on the things that I could see from where I was. I saw a garden of flowers, maybe more than that, but what intrigued me was the things that I could see through the window from afar. Books. Which means, a library.
"Kaiya-chan?"
".."
"Kaiya-chan."
".. Huh?" I glanced at Shirayuki-san, seeing her gesturing me to follow her. I quickly bowed to the guards, and scurried closer to Shirayuki-san. "S-Sorry, I was spacing out," I reasoned, bashfully looking away to avoid her gaze, but in truth I didn't care about what she thought about me for this moment. Right now, I need to go there, to the library.
