The sun was nearly at full peak before Pippin awoke, stirring groggily from his sleep, and came to join us with what was left of the food. Merry quickly caught his companion up on all that had been discussed while he was still asleep whereas Frodo shared his new found talent at mind speak.
"We can all agree for more practice in the area of the mind speak, which we can do in all our conversations" Legolas replied to one of Boromir's comments, "however as for this new strength of limbs it would be best to test our limits before we should ever see it used in combat."
Gandalf rose from the ground, "We have lost nearly a full morning of work. There is still much to do for the coming journey and we mustn't dally any longer." Stretching his back he continued, "Gathering the necessary supplies should be our first priority. Afterward you should start to discover the things that have changed; we will have time to perfect your talents on the journey." As some of the company started to clean up our small make-shift eating area, Aragon, Legolas and Sam went to locate our pack animals and to start gathering the supplies we will need. When our area was clean, the rest of us split off to locate the remaining supplies, "We will meet in the training ground when the sun is halfway through its descent." I spoke to my pack and Gandalf as I started my search for Lord Elrond; I needed to ask him something that had been on my mind.
Finding Lord Elrond talking with some of his fellow Elves I wandered in the mural room we had seen just last night, waiting for their conversation to end. My eyes settled on my mother again, she was the reason I was free today; in shadow and hiding yes, but still free. I began to compare myself with her, as this truly was the only lasting depiction of Lyreen, the one lasting memory I have of her was her death and even then, I was far away from any action so not to be detected. Her coat was like mine, black as a cold fire, her ears slightly smaller and rounder then the ones on my head, her teeth though were just as sharp but her eyes. Those eyes were completely devoid of any sanity as she ripped through her enemies, that is what I was afraid of becoming, truly a beast with not a single thought of my own. Firron's do not have two separate sides, we do not have two souls living in one body, no; we are one with our beast, we are the beast. My mother however destroyed her soul by letting her beastly emotions overcome the sanity of thought, from what Lord Elrond has told me of that time it is not something so easily done. But she did so for me, for my life, so her knowledge of my existence would be forever lost in a sea of nothingness that wound be her mind.
I wondered if she ever had a pack, the blood bond to a king's line was not the same as being in a pack, this I knew: it was said that Lyreen was the oldest of Sauron's Firrons, one of the first to be blood bonded. Knowing I was her child made many of the elves more cautious of me, besides the fact of being Firron; Lyreen was truly a terrifying creature. She surely would have been a fearsome leader in a pack if.
So wrapped in my thoughts I had not heard the approach of Lord Elrond and has my mind registered an approaching creature in reacted upon instinct. Rapidly the light of the world flew away in thousands of tiny ribbons of darkness overcame it as I merged with the darkness of a pillar's shadow. It was cool in this place of shadow, the tendrils of blackness falling over my fur like silk on polished marble, caressing me to stay and be one with it. Whispering things of safety and love, singing a honeyed melody to my ears, begging to not leave it and return to light. Time was slower here, it had no meaning to the creatures of shadow, they existed long before time and they would exist long after, truly eternal. I always enjoyed both sides of life, the light and darkness, but in darkness Firron where born, and it is here we feel at peace. Knowing that now what approached me was indeed Lord Elrond, as I could now see his face from the darkness, I shed the darkness around me like a coat and returned to the light: Directly behind him.
