I opened my eyes slowly, not really wanting to be awake just yet. A quick glance over to my clock showed it was already 11 o'clock, somewhat later than I would usually awake. I groggily stepped out of bed and walked down the short hallway. He was already up and sitting in the kitchen.

He looked at me softly. "Good morning," he spoke, looking back at his phone and continued scrolling through it. "Good morning," I quickly responded. I walked into the kitchen and sat on the chair adjacent to his.

"I wanna take you somewhere to eat," he didn't bother to look up from whatever was on his phone screen. "Okay, that's fine, what were you thinking?" I questioned him, feeling hungry. "We can go to the diner down the street." All I did was nod, despite the fact he probably couldn't see it, his eyes still glued to the phone in his hand.

I got dressed and slipped on a old, worn out pair of shoes that I should probably replace. Once we were both ready, we started out the door. He intertwined his hand with mine and led me down the street.

The diner we were going to was quite small. I had passed by it a few times. Although, I never had the desire to go inside.

It surely wasn't much, but it was cozy. I chose a table by the window at the front while he ordered us food and some coffee. I was lost in thought, glaring at the cars that passed by. "What are you thinking about?" he interrupted my thoughts. "Not much," I lied giving a small smile.

In reality, I was thinking about everything. I was thinking about him. The way he felt so comfortable around someone he just met was confusing to me. Regardless, I liked him, probably a lot more than I should.

"So, how come you brought me here?" I asked before taking a bite of my sandwich. He furrowed his eyebrows, as if he was putting a lot of thought into the question I had asked. "I don't know," he began, "there's something about you, I guess I just want to be with you all the time. You're special."

He continued eating as if nothing happened. I kept quiet, letting his words set in. His answer confused me, what did he mean, saying I was special? I tried to ignore it, picking up my phone and scrolling through posts on whatever social media app I chose to open.
