At this point, we were walking back to my place. "Did you mean what you said in there?" I interrupted the silence lingering in the air. He stopped dead in his tracks and turned to me. "Why would I lie?" he spoke gently. "I don't know," I said quietly, letting all my thoughts sink in.
After a few more minutes of walking, we reached my apartment building. "That was really nice, but I gotta head to work," he started "I'll see you later?" I gave a quick smile, "Yeah, of course." We exchanged a small hug and he kissed my cheek unexpectedly. I could feel my nerves go insane.
I stepped into my apartment after he jogged down to street to get to work. I collapsed on my couch and relaxed my muscles. For the rest of the afternoon, I just sat there, watching whatever show happened to be on the TV. It wasn't my ideal situation, but I'd nothing to do otherwise.
There hadn't been anyone in this city I would consider a friend before. It wasn't a very large city. People were constantly coming and going. I never saw worth in getting close to people, so I didn't. Yet, I found myself warming up to this guy. I didn't want to, but I couldn't help it.
