The next morning, Clara woke up in her bed. She groaned and sat up, she had a terrible headache. She put her Hufflepuff robes on and went to find Newt.

She entered the Great Hall and found everyone whispering about a werewolf loose inside the castle. She saw Newt at the Hufflepuff table.

"Clara! Your feeling better?" He asked, standing up and walking over to her.

"Yeah, I'm fine." She said. They sat down.

"I saw the werewolf last night." He whispered to her as she put a piece of toast in her mouth. Clara almost choked on her toast.

"Why weren't you in the common room?" Clara asked, swallowing her food.

"I couldn't sleep." Newt said.

"But why were you down in the hallway?" She asked.

"How did you know I was in the hallway?" He asked. She grew quiet.

"You were the werewolf, weren't you?" He whispered, only to where she could hear. Clara nodded.

"This is why I wear my sweater all the time. I have scratches all across my arms and legs." Clara said, pulling on her sewn sweater that her mum made her.

"Oh.... Well I can help you anytime." Newt said.

"Thank you Newt." Clara said, hugging him. Newt hugged back. Newt smiled. Clara smiled back.

"We have to go to our class now." He said.

"Yeah. We have Defense Against The Dark Arts next." Clara said. She and Newt stood up and walked to the class room. A few people where happy to see Clara back in class.

"Clara!" Emma said, rushing up to her. "Your back!" Jasper looked up to see Clara.

"Yep. I just had the stomach flu." She lied. Newt glanced at her.

"Oh. Well at least your back." Emma said grinning. Clara smiled before sitting down. Newt sat next to Clara. The professor then started to teach.

An hour later, Newt, Clara, Emma and Jasper left the class.

As the seasons changed and the leaves changed from golden to nothing at all, the students knew Christmas was on it's way. The Great Hall was lined with it's 12 Christmas trees, it was decorated with the floating candles and the ceiling was made to look like it was snowing.

Newt and Clara sat at the Hufflepuff table, a game of Wizards Chess set and going. The students who were leaving Hogwarts were enjoying the time while it lasted, as Christmas was in two days.

Newt moved the piece to checkmate Clara's King. Clara cursed as she couldn't escape.

"Fine, you win again." She said. Newt grinned.

"Another victory to Newt Scamander!" He shouted.

"Don't rub it in my face, I'll beat you some point." Clara said, rolling her eyes.

"Yeah, let the girl win Salamander!" A Gryffindor shouted.

"Scamander!" Newt shouted back. Clara rolled her eyes.

"Want to do another round?" Newt asked.

"Sure." She said. The chess table immediately reset itself. Newt moved his piece and Clara moved hers. Emma and Jasper went over to them and sat down.

"Hey guys." Jasper said.

"Hello Jasper." Clara said, carefully moving her piece.

"Newt's challenging you again?" Emma asked, grinning.

"Yep! I won last round." He said, moving his piece, which killed Clara's piece.

"I think the whole school knows." Jasper said.

"Yeah, you were a little loud." Emma added.

"Those Gryffindor's surely noticed." Clara said, moving her Queen away from Newt's piece.

"Who cares what they think?" Newt said, moving his piece to kill Clara's.

"The Queen has to be the most powerful piece on the chessboard, as it can go in any direction." Emma said, watching the Queen fall to pieces. Clara frowned and moved her King a space away from Newt's Queen.

"He's gonna beat you." Jasper pointed out.

"You think I don't know?" Clara said. Newt moved his piece to Clara's King.

"Checkmate!" He said.

"Another victory for you. I can't move anywhere." Clara said.

"Yes!" Newt shouted, jumping up from the table.

"Calm down Salamander!" Another Gryffindor shouted.

"It's Scamander!" Newt shouted back before siting down.

"They're right Newt, you need to calm down." Clara said.

"Never!" He said, grinning.

"I guess you want another match?"

"How did you know?"

"Isn't it obvious?" Clara asked.

"Oh." Was all he said as they started another round.
