After dinner, Newt and Clara headed back to the Hufflepuff common room. They decided to play Wizards Chess for a while, and Newt won most of the time. He showed her how to successfully beat someone.

Clara then went against a Head Boy, and she beat him. Newt laughed at his expression.

"I was just beat in Wizards chess by a first year!" He exclaimed.

"Yeah, and that first year's name is Clara Angell." Clara said to him.

"Hello Clara. I'm Thomas." He said. "Who's your friend?"

"The friend is Newt Scamander." Newt said, slightly annoyed by the Head Boy.

"Yeah, hi Newt Salamander." Thomas said.

"It's Scamander!" Newt said. Clara rolled her eyes grinning.

"Calm down Newt. We've only been here for a week, they're going to learn your name at some point. You do have six more years here." Clara said.

"Six year?! That's gonna be forever!" He complained.

"What would you rather do than be here?" She asked.

"Catch the magical creatures." Newt said.

"Of course. I should've known." Clara said grinning.

"Mum got me a case last year, it has a charm on it where if I climb into it, I have rooms to keep my creatures in it." He explained.

"That's really cool." She said.

"Some spots are already filled. If you can come to my house this summer, maybe I can show you it." He said.

"That sounds good. You'll have to come to my house sometime. Even though my dad's not there, I still find lots of magical creatures." Clara said.

"Cool!" He said, rather excited. The two talked about creatures, classes, and stuff they could do in their higher years.

Newt was excited for his third year, because that was the year when you could take Care Of Magical Creatures. Clara said she would take it with him, as she liked to learn with him.

Around 9:40 it was time for bed, so Clara and Newt went to their dorms. Clara sat on her bed as Sophie and Maggie entered.

"Hello Clara." The two girls said.

"Hello Sophie, Maggie." Clara said.

"How are you?" Sophie asked.

"Fine, I guess." She responded shrugging. "What about you?"

"Alright myself, thanks." Sophie said, smiling a bit. Maggie rolled her eyes and crawled into her bed.

"Hey, sorry about my sister, Maggie. She says what pops into her head without thinking." Sophie said.

"I do not!" Maggie's muffled voice shouted from under the blankets.

"It's fine, they're just scratches." Clara said. But she knew that if she told them what she really was, they wouldn't even be talking to her. In fact, they'd try to stay away as far as they possibly could. Of course, Newt would be fascinated by her.

"Well, good night Clara." Sophie said, crawling into the bed.

"Same to you." Clara said, doing the same.

The boy's dorm was a complete mess. Thomas tried to straighten everything, while Sam and Johnny kept messing it up. On top of that, two other boys Leo and Paul were playing a game of Exploding Snaps. Newt sighed and pulled out a book on creatures.

"Alright, Sam, Johnny, nock it off. Leo and Paul, put the game away! It's getting late!" Thomas shouted.

"What about Salamander?" Sam asked.

"Scamander!" Newt shouted. Sam rolled his eyes.

"Newt's fine where he is. Now, you lot pick up this mess!" Thomas said. The other boys groaned and started to clean it up. Newt closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.

Entering the Great Hall next day, Newt sat next to Clara. He wondered where she got her scar from, and he found himself hoping it wasn't anything dangerous. He didn't want Clara to get hurt, she was his best friend after all. He studied her a few minutes before she noticed him staring.

"What is it?" Clara asked, her hand moving up to her face and she traced her scar.

"Nothing." He said, too quickly. Just as Clara was about to speak, the owls flew into the Great Hall.

"Mail's here!" Thomas said, catching his mail. Newt caught his, and opened it.

Dear Newt,

Of course Clara Angell cam stay! She seems like a wonderful person! Just make sure to ask her mum. And claw marks on her face, did you say? Well, that sounds rather interesting. But don't ask her about it, she might not feel comfortable telling you, yet.

Love, mum

Newt nodded and tucked the letter into his robes. Clara reached out to grab her letter.

Dear Clara,

Don't tell Scamander. Wait a while. Maybe next year? Unless he finds out.... anyways. Newt sounds very nice. See you soon.

~Mum

Clara flipped it over and wrote,

Dear mum,

Can I stay at Newt's this summer? Please?

Love, Clara

She tied it to the owl and sent it off.

"My mum said it's okay if you stay over!" Newt said happily.

"All we have to do is wait for my mum." Clara said, sighing. Newt shrugged.

"Hopefully we'll get it by the weekend." Newt said.

"Yeah, then we can start to plan our summer!" Clara said excitedly. Newt grinned.

"Yes! Beast catching!" Newt said, almost more excited than Clara. Clara laughed.

Thomas soon came and sat down between Newt and Clara. Newt glared at Thomas, Clara smiled at Thomas.

"Hey Tommy!" Clara said.

"Hey!" He said, putting an arm around her shoulder. Clara blushed slightly. Newt scoffed, then turned his attention to his food.

"What's up?" Thomas asked.

"Nothing much. What about you?" She asked, smiling at him.

"Nothing as well." Thomas said shrugging.

"Oh. Did you have any homework today?" She asked.

"Yes. It was all somewhat easy." Thomas said.

"Mine was confusing." Clara said.

"Need any help?" Thomas asked.

"Yeah, thanks. " She said, pulling the homework out. Newt huffed, and frowned.

I feel like the story is moving by too fast. Anyone got any ideas to slow it down a bit? I plan on having ten chapters per year and five chapters per summer. Thanks to those who help out!
