Scarlita exited the bar, taking a moment to simply let the cold seep into her bones. Gosh, how did the people deal with this down here? She crossed her arms tightly and proceeded into the town, the vibrant surroundings almost making her warm. There were no children out because of the time, and the only thing keeping the darkness from overtaking Snowdin was the light shining from the houses. They all seemed to go out at once, bringing an uneasy feeling to Scarlita and causing her to feel more alone.
She sighed heavily, closing her eyes and staying still. Why had she come here? This place was depressing and a reminder of how creatures with differences always seemed to fight. She remembered when the humans and monsters had lived in peace. She wished it was still like that. Becoming angry at the mere thought of that, she quickened her steps and ran through the town. Eventually she had gotten to the edge of town and back into the forest.
She decided that she liked the isolated feeling that came with being in the snowy woods. She felt as if she could be whoever she wanted to be here, show her true self without being judged. She opened her right hand, creating a ball of fire in it and melting some snow underneath a tree. Carefully, Scarlita sat down in the now snow free spot and started to fool around with her powers.
Her right eye glowed a bright orange, and she outstretched her right hand. Slowly, her fingers moved in as if she was clutching an object. The pile of snow in front of her lifted up into the air, an orange light surrounding it as she lifted it higher into the air with her telekinesis. Her powers usually irritated her, but sometimes they seemed to help her relieve stress. She was always stressed about something. Whether it be her powers which seemed to be growing stronger, or the fact that she could restart her life with a simple thought. Or anyone's' life for that matter.
Crunch.
It was the subtle noise of feet walking through snow, but Scarlita's senses were very acute and the simple noise caused her to quickly spin around. "Who's there?" She said sternly, her voice seeming to get lost in the thick air. The crunching had stopped, but now she knew someone was there.
"Wanna play it that way, huh?" She said, scrunching her eyebrows distastefully. "Un sabueso." She mumbled the phrase in Spanish. Suddenly, a demonic looking black dog appeared out of thin air. It turned to Scarlita, awaiting a command as it made a low growl. "No, none of that." She said strictly, squatting down to stroke the hound's head. "Find, but don't attack."
The hound took off in a trot, searching behind trees and logs until a bright light a little ways from her told Scarlita her pup had found something.
"Good girl!" She exclaimed, running up to the flares in the distance. When she reached the dog, who was now angrily posed in front of its discovery and completely made of fire, her smile disappeared when she saw who it was.
"Sans?!" She exclaimed.
"C—Can you call that thing off?"
She rolled her eyes and gestured for the hound to sit, even though it continued to growl. "Sans!" Scarlita began again. "What are you doing?"
Sans managed to give Scarlita a nervous grin, but his eye sockets were still on the woman's animal.
"Come on, Sans." Scarlita said impatiently. "She's not gonna hurt you, but I will if you don't answer me."
"I was just taking a walk."
She squinted her eyes. "Sure you were. You were taking a walk and mysteriously ended up behind me?"
"Yup."
She sighed and folded her arms. "Bullshit. You were following me. Why exactly were you following me?"
"Cause I don't exactly see someone like you everyday." She could really see his face but she could tell he was smiling. A lot.
For the first time in her life, Scarlita was speechless, but her anger was building inside her. "Are you flirting with me?"
"Mayyyyybe." He drawled the word out.
"You don't even know me!"
"We could fix that."
"No." she said seriously. "I'm really, really not someone you wanna get know."
"I wouldn't know that unless I got to know you."
"You're only making this worse."
He shrugged. "How about we make a deal?"
"A deal?"
"Yup."
"Alright, Mr.Sans. What exactly did you have in mind?"
"Well, you said you're not someone I wanna get to know. But I have no way to know that if I don't get to know ya. So, I say ya gimme a chance and at the end I'll be the judge of that." He held out his hand.
"I...I..."
"Do we have a deal?"
"Fine." She finally agreed, taking his hand and shaking it again. They stared at each other, and after what seemed like forever Scarlita let go. She wondered about his life and, honestly, wanted to get to know him. Of course, she wouldn't dare to say it.
"What was that glowing I saw earlier?" He asked.
"What? When you were stalking me?" She teased.
"No. I told you I was just taking a walk. Now, are you going to answer my question?"
"Can you keep a secret?"
"If I say yes will you answer me?"
"Maybe."
"Then yes." He said flatly.
"Great," Scarlita said slyly. "I can too."
She turned around, her dog following her. "I'll see you later then Sans?"
He stared at her for a moment. "Yup."
She smiled, then turned around again to leave and go back to Grillby's...
