After the small meeting was over and everyone had left, Scarlita told Sans that she would be back in a little while to go see Grillby. He responded with a slight yawn, nodding and saying that he was going to take a nap so really it was perfect timing. She told the two goodbye and ventured out into the snow to go visit her cousin at his bar.
She walked into the restaurant doors, enjoying the warm air rushing against her face as she made her way towards the counter to go greet him. She had always been used to the eyes of men following her, but she honestly wished that others would judge her on her personality rather than her facial and bodily features. So she kept her head straight and sat on one of the stools in front on the counter as Grillby approached her.
"Hey, Scarl." He said, rubbing a glass as he always seemed to be. "What's up?"
She shook her head and rubbed her eyes. "I don't know, Grillby. I'm just...hanging in here I guess."
His scrunched his eyebrows distastefully. "Why? What's the matter?"
"Sans is." She whispered so only Grillby could hear. "I feel...strange whenever I'm around him."
He raised his eyebrows up and down quickly. "That's the power of love, honey—"
"No!" Scarlita giggled but seriously. "I don't like him that way. We just met."
"I'm not convinced," he put the glass down on the counter and leaned his elbow on the counter. "He definitely likes you."
"Please. My personality is not necessarily one that attracts men."
He shrugged. "Some men like woman who are hard to handle. Plus," he began again in a changed tone, making sure not to look at Scarlita directly in the eyes. "There are other reasons guys would want you."
Scarlita squinted her eyes furiously, knowing where the conversation was heading. "What do you mean?!" She almost growled in a low mumble.
"I mean, not to offend you," his eyes rolled away from Scarlita's piercing glare. "You have...certain female...attributes that are...um...particularly large..."
Her eyes widened. "Are you saying my breasts are big?!"
He backed up a step. "You're ass is too—"
"Oh, Grillby!" Scarlita exclaimed angrily. "I'm fully aware of the size of my bodily features, but you know I hate when men are only attracted to women because of a body." She shook her head and then looked up with a pale face despite that she was the color white. "Is that the only reason Sans likes me?"
"Nononononono! Of course not!" Grillby clarified quickly. "He's not like that, I promise."
Scarlita folded her arms and glared at the people staring at her. "That's how a lot of men are, mi primo."
"A lot is not all, Scarl. Maybe he's one of the ones who don't judge a book by it's cover."
She sighed. "Then I shall figure that out, and hopefully not fall for him in the process..."
He smiled sympathetically and rubbed her shoulder. "It's alright, Scarl. I know everything will turn out absolutely fine, just wait and see. He's a good monster. Why would I lie to you?"
She sighed and tried to manage a smile back. "You wouldn't lie to me, Grillby. So I'll take your advice, okay? But if it doesn't work out, I told you so."
He rolled his eyes playfully. "Okay, Scarl. Well, I've gotta get back to work, see you later?"
"You know it." She smiled, hopping of the stool and walking out of the doors.
...
She made it back to Sans and Papyrus's house, and she was instantly greeted by Papyrus by another kiss on the hand. "HELLO AGAIN, MY DEAR!" He took a bow. "WELCOME BACK TO OUR HUMBLE HOME. SANS IS SLEEPING, AS USUAL. BUT I'M SURE HE WOULD WAKE UP IF YOU WOULD MAKE HIM!"
She smiled, returning a curtsy to Papyrus and walking inside of the warm house. There she found Sans sitting, stretching as he let out a yawn and grinned at Scarlita. "Heya..." he said in a raspy voice before he cleared his throat. "Ya back?"
"Yup," she sat down on the couch as well. "I decided to come hang out a little more. Why, did you miss me?" She teased.
"Maybe," he said, chuckling and stretching more as he got off the sofa. "I got nothing else to do, wanna come to Grillby's with me?"
She shook her head nicely. "No thanks, I'll just wait here for you, okay?"
He smiled in his normal cool and collected way before leaving out the door. "Okay..."
When he got to Grillby's, it was the usual. He sat in one of the stools on the counter, got comfortable, and grabbed a bottle of ketchup from Grillby. He drank it little by little in his relaxed state, but he was confused because Grillby kept frequently looking over at him with a strange smile.
"What?" He finally asked, puzzled.
"Oh nothing..." Grillby tried to shrug it off, but ended up walking over to Sans and speaking in a low mumble.
"Don't tell Scarlita,okay? Listen up."
Ya had me at Scarlita, Sans thought as he leaned in to better hear Grillby.
"Okay, okay, here it is. She came in here and talked to me earlier."
"Yea?"
"And I think she likes you."
His eye sockets widened and he blinked a couple times. "R—Really?"
"Really!" Grillby exclaimed. "She's just afraid to admit it to you. She's been through a lot in her life."
Sans didn't here the other part, he was still on the fact that a girl like that actually liked him. He had never meant someone like her before, and she definitely didn't want to let her go. "W—What should I do?"
Grillby pondered the question. "Just talk to her. A lone. Get to know her better. And just be yourself, she'll notice if you're not."
Grillby had never seen Sans this excited. "O—Okay!" He said happily. "That's what I'll do!"
"Go get er, tiger!" Grillby chuckled.
"Don't worry, hot head, I am." He jumped down from the stool and started to leave out. Woah, he thought. Am I really gonna try this? He shrugged, stepping out into the snow and making his way back to the house. Yes, I am. Welp. Here goes nothing...
