LUCAS

Navia was a mess but so was the whole situation. I hated to leave her while she was so upset, but I needed to deal with Camille and Caleb before I could even start with Navia. They were still in the kitchen petrified at what had happened. I leaned against a counter and stared at the two. I put a calm but stern look on my face and kept tight hold my fury towards them.

Camille was the first to drop. She fell to her knees and pink tears fell from her eyes. “Please Lucas, I am so sorry. I never thought that the knife would actually hit you. Please forgive me. Please?” she begged. Camille was nothing but a nuisance and always had been. I just could not believe what had been brought into my house.

Then Caleb fell to the floor. “Lucas I am so sorry. I never should have brought my problems into your house and cause both you and Navia so much grief. Forgive me? Please?” He sounded so upset but I had heard that tone from him before. He was almost as bad as Camille. He went along doing as he pleased and always relied on me to clean up his mistakes.

“Shut up the both of you.” They looked up at me scared. “I am so tired of this shit from both of you. Caleb, you are my dearest and oldest friend but I am tired. I am tired of having to clean up your messes. This happens all the fucking time. You say or do something and someone new is chasing you. Well I am done, I will no longer bail you out of every fight you get in. You need to grow up too and accept some responsibility in your life.” Caleb looked hurt and nodded. It was hard to say but it was true. I was tired of all his crap.

“Camille. I was around you when you were first brought to this world. You had the memories of a nobleman’s daughter and you assumed to being treated that way without deserving any of such treatment. You have always been a pest but I thought better of you and thought with age you would learn. But you have not changed, nor does it look like you plan on changing.” I paused and stared at her. “Did you know that I saved your life?” She looked shocked. “Yes, after I had done a report on you and presented it to the queen she saw the obedience that you lacked and asked me what I thought.

“She wanted to know if you should be killed or if you could learn and turn out to be a great demon. I spoke for you and said you could learn and she let you live. But I was wrong and you never changed, demanding what you saw as proper respect.” She was looking down at the floor ashamed. “Something else the queen said” I said calling back her attention “was that if you ever turned out to be too much to handle, I was to kill you.” She looked at me scared.

She rose to her feet and tried to run. I held her in her spot with my mind. I went into the same drawer that she did and pulled out another knife. This one, a knife that could kill a demon. “You know Camille, if you had pulled out a different knife this would be different. I would be dead on the floor, Navia would be screaming in pain and you would be hunted by the queen for my death.” I looked at her and she was crying. “I am sorry Camille, but I was wrong. You should have died centuries ago.”

I thrust the knife into her and I saw as her demon left her. The black liquid drained from her mouth, like water from a faucet on high. It gathered by her feet and then seeped through the floor and went down back to hell. Her human body fell and shriveled. Caleb looked at the corpse scared and sad.

“Caleb leave me and Navia, do not come back unless it is a dire emergency.” Caleb nodded and then he vanished.

It was late and now I had a corpse in my kitchen. I called in some servers and I had them take it away and burn it. As soon as it was gone I went upstairs now having to help Navia. She was shaken and upset. I opened the door and she was sitting on the bed, crying into her knees. I stood next to the bed and just put my hand on her shoulder. She looked up and the tears streamed from her eyes. I hated to see her so upset. She took a deep breath and then backed away from me. She looked at me with scared and sad eyes.
