chapter four

"when I tell you I love you,
I don't say it out of habit.
I say it to remind you that you're the best thing that happened to me."

Waking up the next morning, was dreadful. Yeah-Yeah, Squints, and Smalls all squished themselves into my bed. It was a queen sized but those three moved a lot. I woke up in the middle of the night and Smalls' nasty foot was inches away from my face. Next, Yeah-Yeah and Squints were laying on top of me. I ended up pushing the three boys off my bed. They didn't even wake at that. I only got about two hours of sleep by myself until all the boys woke up, talking loudly.

"Oh, my god!" I groaned. "You guys are so loud!"

"We know." DeNunez fried back, smirking. Someone then knocked on my door. I got up, still in the clothes from yesterday, and opened the door. My mom was standing there, dressed for work.

"Alright, boys, time to go home. Your parents called." My mom announced.

They all groaned. They muttered a 'goodbye' to me and my mom before leaving.

"Are you okay? You know, with Benny?" My mom asked, laying next to me on the bed.

"No, but I'm managing." I replied. "He brought the girl to the sandlot yesterday. Mamá, she was the most falso person you could ever meet." (fake)

"How so?" Mamá laughed.

"Benny introduced us to the girl and he introduced me as his girlfriend and you see how molestado she was about that. Though she put on a smile and started hugging me. After, she started to insult baseball, which ticked off the boys, and then in the blink of an eye she's saying she loves baseball." I explained. (bothered) My mom cringed.

"Ew, thank makes me hate her even more." She said in disgust.

"Geez, the apple really doesn't fall far from the tree." I remarked. My mom scoffed and pushed me while I laughed.

"Girl, bye, I gotta go to work." My mom chuckled. She kissed my forehead before walking out.

"Bye, mom!" I yelled after her. She yelled back 'goodbye' before I heard the door slam shut. I sighed and started to clean the mess the boys made in my room. Soon enough, I was finished and I headed downstairs to make myself some breakfast.

As I walked into the kitchen, the doorbell rang. I groaned loudly before opening it. And standing on my porch was Benny. His head snapped up when I opened the door.

"What're you doing here, Benny?" I asked, slightly annoyed.

"Bertram and DeNunez told me why you guys left the sandlot early yesterday and I wanted to say that I'm sorry." Benny started. "I didn't mean to hurt you I was just being friendly. She was an old friend from when I was little. I wanted her to feel welcome."

"Yeah, I know. And I get that but you took this whole being friendly thing too far." I crossed my arms over my chest. Benny uncrossed them and held my hands, pulling me out of my house.

"I see that now and I'm really sorry." Benny sighed. His eyes and voice softened. "Please forgive me. I don't like you being upset with me."

I opened my mouth to say something but someone cut me off. That someone being Chloe. I rolled my eyes seeing her on Benny's porch next to us.

"Benny, come on! We're supposed to be watching a movie together." She yelled out.

I rolled my eyes and unlaced mine and Benny's fingers. "Go, I don't care anymore."
