I wake to the sound of my phone buzzing uncontrollably. I set my alarm last night, because I have a hair appointment at 10. I groan at the time. Why did I have to set the alarm so freaking early in the morning?
"8:30? Really Autumn?" I sigh. I push myself up out of bed and slowly make my way to the kitchen. As I pass the door, I see a folded piece of paper sitting on the floor. Why can't Clark just ring the door bell or just simply knock? I trudge over to it and in mid stride, I stub my toe on the couch. I shriek in pain, and grab my toe. After a couple seconds, I can barely walk on my foot, but manage to grab the note and read it. His handwriting is amazing. I, on the other hand, do not have great hand writing. My handwriting looks like a 4 year old just scribbled all over the paper for me. I read the letter out loud to myself.
"Change of plans, come to the park and meet me at the north side corner. Bring a jacket. Love, Clark."
I smile to myself and set the note on the couch. I feel my stomach start to grumble, so I walk into the kitchen and make a bowl of Cheerios. After I scarf that down, I go and get dressed in dark, blue jeans and a black long-sleeved shirt.
When I get to the salon that was located inside the mall, I am a couple minutes early, so I sit in the chairs in the waiting area and read a magazine. While I was reading, an article caught my eyes. Bottom to top for a whole two pages was filled with stuff about the blur and what happened a few days ago. Basically, Clark is the only thing anyone is ever talking. I guess people are just trying to find a good story.
"Autumn?" The hairstylist calls my name. I got up and sat in the chair that she told me to sit in. She got all of her supplies out, then started trimming my hair. I am getting my hair curled professionally. I love curly hair, and I don't know why. Ever since I was a baby, I've had straight hair. Every time I would curl it at home, the curls would never stick for long periods of time. They would end up uncurling by the time I got to the event I curled my hair for.
"So, what's up, how's life?" Asks Mindy. She is one of my good friends. I have very few friends. I always come here when I get my hair cut and every time I come here, she doesn't have to ask me what I want. She already knows.
"Nothing much."I sigh. I start reading the page about Clark, when Mindy says something.
"What are you reading there?" She asks, peeking her head over my shoulder to see what I was reading. She is from the country, so she has this adorable accent that I try not to laugh at sometimes, because I love the way she talks.
"It's not that important." I say, before I continue, "Just reading a....stupid column about the blur that everyone saw on TV." I grumble a little.
"Oh, did you see that? That was amazing, that poor girl. I was so glad that that thing helped her." Mindy blabbed on and on and on about him. I start to get a little annoyed, so when she came back from getting the curling iron, I said something about it.
"Can we please stop talking about "the blur"? It's really....annoying." I say turning the page to drop the subject.
"Sure hun. What would you like to talk about?" She inquired.
"I don't know. How about...what are you doing for the holidays?"I ask putting down the magazine and looking at her through the mirror. She has a serious look on her face while she evens out my hair and puts some of it to the side. She wraps my hair around the thick, black, curling iron and then looks up to look back at me.
"Oh! My boyfriend, Ted and I are going up to his families lake house for a week or two. Hopefully, he will ask me a question that will change both of our lives forever!" She gushes with a huge smile from ear to ear. Her boyfriend and her have been dating for five years! Being with someone for that long can really change a person, sometimes in a good way.
