Clark and I arrive at his mothers house in seconds, around 7:00, and as soon as I walk through the door; I can smell the fresh scent of bread sticks and ham. Her house is tiny, but spacious. As you walk into the door, there is a large dark, brown stair case that led up into the upper level of the house. The living room is to the left. A grey sofa sits in front of the large windows, facing the kitchen.  A wooden coffee table sits in the middle of the room, with a colorful rug underneath it. A few chairs here and there, and a large TV that site in the top left corner. The wooden floors look shiny and glossy, mine never look this nice. The TV is on, but muted. The gray couch has a ton of colorful throw pillows on top of it, and the white curtains were wide open. The fireplace was closed, but I could just imagine what it would look like during the winter time. The winter time in Kansas is hell. Trust me.

When I look to my right, I see that Ms. Kent is standing in front of the stove, stirring softly at whatever was in the pot. The walls of the kitchen are a light, yellow color. The counters are pure white. No stains, no dust, just pure. I walk up the two steps into the kitchen and his mother finally sees us.

"You're home is beautiful, Ms. Kent." I smile. Her face immediately lights up when she sees me.

"Oh, thank you, dear! Wow, I haven't see you in a very long time. It's good to see you, Autumn!" She says while hugging me. Her skin and hair smells of soap as I rest my chin on her shoulder for a few seconds.

"You too!" I say, while I back up a little to where I'm standing next to Clark again.

"So, dinner will be done in a few minutes, please..." She raises her hand up in the air "Make yourself at home." She goes back to the stove and starts to stir again. Clark and I walk back into the living room and sit down on the couch. He watches his mom move around the kitchen quickly and he looks kind of sad.

"You okay?" I put my hand on his knee and he breaks his stare and looks at my hand.

"Yeah... yeah I'm fine." He pats the hand that was on his knee and smiles a fake smile.

"You notice too...." He glances at me with a confused look.

"What?" He shakes his head slightly.

"You notice too.... that she's sad?" I watch as his atoms apple bobs up and down a little and he clenches his jaw.

"Yeah...." He looks back to our hands. "Yeah I do... but there's nothing I can do about it. She won't even leave the house, let alone move."

"How long as she been inside the house without leaving?" I ask. He squints his eyes and licks his lips.

"Well ever since my dad died, she's never wanted to leave this place. It has so many memories of my father in it. She doesn't want to forget I guess." Clark explained while we slowly walk toward the kitchen again. "So...A Long time" He sighs.

"Dinner is ready!" She slightly yells from the dining room. "Clark can you grab those drinks please?" She asks, pointing to the drinks on the counter. I walk down the two steps into the dining room and help her set the table.

"So are you hungry?" His mom asks me, clapping her hands together lightly. My stomach growled.

"Yes! Everything smells so good!" I say, glazing over all the food that was on the dining room table. Man I was so hungry, I haven't eaten since eight-thirty.

"Why thank you dear. I have been cooking since noon. So I hope it is good." She starts to move her chair to sit down, but Clark uses his super speed to get to her. He helps her in and then gets to me.
