"So, how come you can't just, like, snap a photo of me and then paint from that?" Sirius asked, watching Remus set up his easel.

Remus turned around, "sick of me already?"

"Oh - shit - no, no I didn't mean for it to come out that way. I was just wondering..." Sirius rubbed his hand in his face, trying to not punch himself.

Remus laughed. "Seeing something in person while drawing it makes it easier to capture lighting and value and stuff. Makes it easier to capture the full image," he said.

"Hm," Sirius acknowledged as Remus walked back into his room to grab his last set of paints. Sirius looked around the living room again, his eyes landing on a gigantic portrait of Vincent van Gogh above the TV in front of him. As Remus walked back to him, he asked a question.

"That painting - uh, when you have people over - does it ever creep the out because he's just kinda staring?"

Remus snorted. "I don't really 'have people over'. At least like that," Remus said, smiling a bit. "Why, does it bother you?"

"Vincent is really staring into my soul

"Vincent is really staring into my soul."

"Good. Now c'mon, before we start, I need to eat and all I have is ice cream in my fridge so let's go get something."

So Sirius followed Remus out of the little apartment and outside into the cold air. He wasn't quite sure where they were going, but Remus was walking toward the subway lines so he assumed they were going downtown.

"There's this little Chinese place that's super good and cheap, and I basically live off of it," Remus said, smiling.

"Sounds like a healthy diet," Sirius responded, and Remus laughed.

"They all know your name. That says something," Sirius said, looking at Remus from across the table. Remus blushed.

"I'm a poor student, fight me about it."

"I could never. So - so what made you pursue art?" Sirius asked, poking his noodles with his chopsticks.

"It's really the only thing that's ever interested me, y'know? Like, math isn't my thing and English is okay, but art is what made me actually want to go to school. So I decided to get some kind d degree in it. What kind - I have no clue. But whatever," Remus shrugged, "why do you ask?"

Sirius finished his bite of food. "Nothin', I wanted to do what you do - like artsy shit - but uh, but my parents didn't really like it so you know, that didn't really work out."

Remus looked up at him. "I'm sorry. My mom wasn't all too keen on it at first but I think she realized that I wasn't going to budge. You could always secretly change your major," Remus suggested, sipping his soda.
