Chapter 14

It was finally dinner time. I didn't know if I should talk to them about me or Gwenny or Helen or nothing at all. So I didn't at all. Dinner was a breeze. I didn't even remember what we had. Barely anyone talked except for a bit about how school was starting tomorrow. 

Then I went up to my room and got into my flannels and a big t-shirt and snuggled into bed and I fell asleep with a snap. But the next day would just be torture.

"Wake up Gwen. First day of school!" A sing-song voice from downstairs drifted into my ears. I groggily rolled out of bed and grabbed a hairbrush. My auburn hair was down and thoroughly brushed already. I slid into some faded skinny jeans and light brown boots. My shirt was a hollister navy black and white striped long sleeve.

Suddenly, everything went quiet. I paused, just standing and listening. Nothing. I walked quietly over and tapped lightly tapped on Josie's door. It quickly flew open and Josie stood there looking at me. She had on a flowery dress and a denim jacket. 

"Yeah, what do you want?" She asked, sliding her hair into a ponytail.

"Noise." I whispered, jumping into her room.  She frowned and perked up her ears, then followed me back into her room, shutting the door behind her. 

"Do you think it's-"

"Yeah." I replied. She scurried over to her window and began opening it. 

"There's a tree." She pointed to a tall oak nearby the window.

I reached out and the branch came towards us. Josie jumped out and onto the branch. Soon we were both on the ground. 

"We need to get out of here." I said to Josie.

"No we don't. You guys can take them its only two guys." Gwenny.

"Uh, Gwenny how did you get here?" Josie asked.

"I was up in my room and there were sounds downstiars. I read everyones minds. Mommy and Daddy and BamBam got kidnapped and are in a van and there are two scary guys downstairs looking for you. They're really stupid." Gwenny replied.
