It's amazing what one simple knock can do. When I heard a knock on the front door, my knees suddenly felt weak. Liam was here.

Erica got up and went to the front door. She ushered Liam in. He had casual attire on but still looked handsome. He gave me a shy smile and I quickly looked down at my feet.

We were all standing in the hallway in an awkward silence. My Dad cleared his throat.
"I want her back before 11."
Liam nods,"Yes, sir."
Liam and I walk towards the door and he holds it open for me.
"Have fun!" Erica calls.
"Not too much fun..." mumbles my Dad.
~
"You're gonna have to close your eyes for most of the trip." Liam says before pulling out of my driveway.
I give him a look. Liam chuckles.
"I'm not going to do anything. Trust me."
I oblige and close my eyes. I feel tempted to take a peek but I don't want to lose Liam's "trust".

"So...whose car is this?" I attempt to make small talk.
"It's my Dad's old Jeep."
Now that I realise it, Liam hasn't talked about his Dad that much. I turn towards him and I risk sneaking a peek. I slowly open my eyes to see a frowning Liam. He quickly glances at me and smiles.
"You're peeking! Close your eyes!"
I smile and close my eyes.
"Liam?"
"Mhmm."
"What happened to your Dad?"
Silence. Even though my eyes are closed I can imagine Liam frowning. He sighs.
"It's okay. I don't want you to say anything if you do-"
"He died."
I open my eyes as quickly as I can. I reach for Liam's forearm and place my hand on his soft skin.
"I-I'm so sorry." I say.
Liam clears his throat and I see his knuckles turning white.
"He, uh, was in a car accident. He was on his phone arguing with my Mom. They were going through their divorce at the time and he wasn't paying attention. A car collided with his car and he-he didn't make it."
I cover my mouth with my hand. It sounds awful. A divorce and then a funeral.

I look out my window and see a huge Ferris Wheel on a large pier. It's a carnival. I gasp and turn towards Liam. He has a small smile on his face.
"I couldn't think of anywhere else to go. I hope you li-"
"It looks lovely Liam."
~
The disappearing sun is the only thing I feel. The wind is the only thing I hear besides the silent thumping of the carnival music below me. I look out at the sea and see the lights of the carnival reflecting on the water.

I can feel Liam's eyes on me. I turn to look at him and see him staring at me intently. I let out an awkward little laugh.
"What is it?" I ask him.
"Oh um. Nothing."
"You sure?" I ask with a questioning look.
He nods and looks out at the water and I join him. Liam turns his whole body around to face me. I do the same and our knees touch.
"When we get off the Ferris Wheel, do you wanna get some ice-cream?"
I nod my head.
"Hell yeah!"
~
"Vanilla. Thanks."
"Vanilla? Really?"
"Vanilla is awesome!" Liam says.
"Strawberry please." I say to the person. He hands me the cone.
Liam and I start walking to the end of the pier. Liam rests against the railing and I stand beside him.
"Wanna play a game?" I suggest.
Liam nods his head. I stand in front of him and hold out my ice-cream. He tilts his head to the side a bit.
"If you try this and say it's amazing then you have to give me something. I try your ice-cream and do the same thing. Got it?"

Liam takes my ice-cream and replaces it with his vanilla one. I nod my head and we both lick a bit off. This vanilla ice-cream tastes different from other ones. I nod my head and look at Liam. He has a surprised look. He obviously liked my ice-cream.

I hold out his ice-cream and wait for him to take it. He looks at my strawberry one and holds it closer to him. I laugh.
"Fine. You get to keep that. Now, you have to give me something."
He looks up at the starry sky with a puzzling look. He leans down...and gives my nose a quick peck. I scrunch up my face and look up at him.
"Let's get you home. I don't want your Dad to kill me."
