I tense up when two pairs of hands wrap around my mouth and eyes. I can’t see or talk.

“Guess who?” A voice says. I immediately relax. I know exactly who it is. I break free from the two hand’s grip and stand up.

“Lindsey and Brady.” I glare at the pair of twins standing in front of me. “What are you doing here?” I ask before embracing them both in a tight hug.

“We’re here to visit of course!” Lindsey smiles.

Lindsey and Brady were my best friends through elementary school and middle school. In fact, they were my only friends. Lindsey was practically my sister and Brady and I had a fling in 8th grade. He was the closest thing I have ever had to a boyfriend, but it never even went that far. But last year when they moved a little closer to Panama City, they were forced to move to a different school. I was heartbroken, and left with no friends. Even though they only lived 15 minutes away I hardly ever saw them anymore, so every time they visited was a surprise.

I remember Harry is sitting right behind me. “Oh um… guys this is Harry. He just moved here.” I wave towards Harry. “Harry this is Lindsey and Brady.”

“Hi.” He quietly says, barely looking up.

Lindsey takes a buzzing phone out of her pocket and answers. “Hello? Oh okay. Be right there. Okay bye.”  She hangs up. “I’m so sorry Leighton but we have to go, my mom just called telling us to come home.” She says, rolling her eyes.

Brady hugs me one more time. “We are going to the beach tomorrow with a big group of people, would you wanna come? You can bring um… Harry.”

I glance over at Harry. His head is down and he’s picking at his shaved ice. Big groups aren’t really my thing but I decide to accept his invitation. “Sure! We will be there.” I say.

Brady smiles. “Cool. I’ll text you the time and place. See you then.” The brother and sister hug me again and walk away into the crowd.

“So I hope you don’t mind but I just agreed to go to the beach tomorrow and bring you with.” I say to Harry as I sit back down at the table.

“I guess that works. I don’t have anything better to do.” He shrugs, showing little emotion.

We finish our ices and walk back to his car. As he starts to drive me home, I start to give him directions to my house but I realize he’s going the right way. He drives down my street and pulls into the driveway of the house across from mine.  He turns off the car and climbs out of the passenger seat.

“Um Harry, my house is the one across the street, not this one.” I say, trying not to sound rude.

“I know.” He casually states. “This is my house.” He motions to the house that we are parked in front of. He walks toward the door and unlocks it. Before he closes it he looks at me. “Goodnight Leighton.” He says. “See you tomorrow.”

I look at the door for a little while before I trudge across the street to my own house, thinking about the boy named Harry the entire time.
