Mae immediately scanned the numerous rows of seats for something to catch her eye. Something that stood out, reminding her of him.

Nothing did.

Sighing, she walked numbly to her desk, feeling disappointment settle into the pit of her stomach.

Lucy squeezed her shoulder reassuringly, smiling softly. "Its okay." She whispered.

Mae tried hard to believe her, but found her patience and hope dwindling quickly. She didn't want to have to wait forever.

At the front of the class, the lecture had started. The door opened, not ten feet away from where Mae and Lucy were seated.

Mae gaped. It was him.

In a shark onsie.

The toothy hood was pulled over his straight, brunette hair and his hazel eyes glinted with mischief as they met hers. He had a smirk on his face, but she could see the nerves that sizzled under the surface.

He looked around the classroom, smiling. "Sorry, these things are vicious. Almost got my hair stuck in the zipper!"

Lucy snorted next to Mae, trying to hold it in but failing miserably.

Zander Souza.

An ear splitting smile graced Mae's face and she couldn't stop looking at him as he made his way to a seat a few seats behind her.

He sat down with a flourish and all the confidence had left him, making him look sheepish.

On the inside, he was absolutely terrified. His hands were shaking in his lap and he had to keep biting his lip.

What if she was disappointed? Unsatisfied? What if she didn't think he was enough?

He met her eyes and decided that with as big of a grin as she had, she wasn't disappointed.

Nothing made him happier.
